I dont think its about religion being shit. I think its about the people who run religion being corupt and making it shit. 'Blinded by greed', 'Greed and addiction drowned their pity'. Can you see what I mean?
Like the most commenters, I believe this song is about the leaders of Christianity.
Also I would like to add that the lyric "castles of self-righteousness built on graves" could also refer to most early churches being built right on top of places where traditional Germanic/Norse deities were honoured.
The lyric "The dynamo of a northern golden age Darkened our future, blinded by greed" could in this context also refer to the same thing, the Germanic/Norse belief system crushed by Christianity.

The catholic church is known for its cathedrals, and in the dark ages they were used as instruments of controlling people, which they called the justice of God, yet the priests and popes were secretly involved in orgies, sex scandals, tortuing REAL believers of Christ etc.

thats basically what the catholic church is built upon, graves of those that were killed for her cause.
