In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

"...But I could never leave you, even though I've tried." And how maybe at one point they had, but even so, this person feels so strong and can't let go. "But I had it once, but not anymore." And also that they're hoping the other person's feelings may change. "Aooooooo. Do you feel the same? Aooooooo. It wears me out again. " I think there are some other things, but that's kind of what I think..
Personally, I think this song is about liking/loving someone who the singer doesn't really WANT to love. ("Now I am tired and now I am bored") ("It wears me out again") Like, she goes around and around in circles, liking this person, keeping them held on a string or leash, and yet she doesn't love them anymore. ("But I had it once, but not anymore") She wants to have her cake and eat it too.
