Ugio sine fine
Daemon, parce mihi
Furiosus occulos timeo
Frigeo, cor fit petra
Vita mea fracta st et demissa
Et perdita

Du scheinst dunkler als die Nacht
Du bist älter als das Licht
Du bist unsichtbar gemacht
hast keine Hülle kein Gesicht

Und schauerlich
Versteckst Du dich
Seit ewiglich
Schwarze Sonne

Du dringst ein betäubst den Geist
Du erleuchtest mein Gemüt
Du verführst und Du entweihst
Du bist kalt und längst verglüht

Und innerlich
Erhitzt Du mich
Seit ewiglich
Schwarze Sonne

Semper sequindo odorem sanguis
Ferrox currendo ex infernalis
Semper sequindo odorem sanguis
Est cerberus

Du erscheinst in meinem Traum
Du liebkost mein schwarzes Herz
Spendest Licht dem Lebensbaum
Du befreist mich von dem Schmerz

Und eigentlich
Erschreckst Du mich
Auf ewiglich
Schwarze Sonne

Du fliegst schneller als das Licht
du bist überall zugleich
Du bist Vater Mutter nicht
und auch nicht das Himmelreich

Doch ohne Dich
Gibt es mich nicht
Auf ewiglich
Schwarze Sonne

Semper sequindo odorem sanguis
Ferrox currendo ex infernalis
Semper sequindo odorem sanguis
Est cerberus
(schwarze Sonne)

Frigeo, cor fit petra
Vita mea fracta st et demissa
Et perdita

Predator cerberus qui vit infernus fames ardens carme hominis
mortalis

Semper sequindo odorem sanguis
Ferrox currendo ex infernalis
Semper sequindo odorem sanguis
Est cerberus
(schwarze Sonne)

Semper sequindo odorem sanguis
Ferrox currendo ex infernalis
Semper sequindo odorem sanguis
Est cerberus, est cerberus
(schwarze Sonne)

    And now to the meaning:

Oh boy, this IS hard. THe german text doesnt actually match the latin one AT ALL. The latin one speaks of Cerberus - interestingly he seems to have given up his guarding the gate of hades job and hunts for mortal flesh. Doesnt seem to make much sense atm.

Then the german part: "You are older than the light" - given the religious basis of (almost all) E Nomine Songs, this can only mean "the darkness" (AT the beginning there was darkness... Then light was created). This also maches with "you hide eternally" and "you are created invisible": darkness cant be seen, and as it was created (supposedly it was created at all) it couldnt be seen (well, for a lack of light, hehe) so it was invisible. Also, darkness is faster than the light - everywhere the light gets, the darkness is already there (kudos to Terry Pratchett) - therefore it is everywhere at once. Finally, its just to figure out who is it who actually sings the song. Someone with a black heart, who takes comfort in darkness being there, and still be scared of it. I dont exactly know who is meant by this, but any evil badguy would fit in the mold.

Could anyone do a myth check if there is a evil badguy that is scared of cerberus? Wouldnt fit a christian one like lucifer - he would hardly fear an oversized puppy, three heads or not, that longs for his flesh and blood...

    Song Meaning

The German Schwarze Sonne, is an occult symbol incorporated in a floor of Wewelsburg Castle during the Nazi era. But I also know that in mythology the black sun was used as a passage way for the ancient serpent god Quetzalcoatl to enter the underworld. The Aztecs associated the passage of the black sun, on its nightly journey through the underworld, with the image of a butterfly. The butterfly is an archetypical symbol of the transcendent soul, transformation and mystical rebirth.

Always following the smell of blood-- Wild running from hell Always following the smell of blood It is Cerberus (The mythical Three-Headed Dog that serves to guard Hell.)

I'm escaping without end Demon, spare me Furious hidden fear My life fractures, (hush) and is dejected And destroyed.

The hunting Cerberus in Hell craves passionately the mortal, human flesh.

This is a rough translation of the Latin lyrics.

Ugio sine fine Daemon, parce mihi Furiosus occulos timeo Frigeo, cor fit petra Vita mea fracta st et demissa Et perdita

You seem darker than the night (also: You shine darker... two meanings of the word) you are older than the Light you are created invisible have no husk (and) no face

And scarily you hide eternaly Black Sun

You penetrate into the mind you enlighten my mood you entice and you defile you are cold and burned out (probably wrong word - something that has glowed hot/bright, and now is burned out)

And inside (me) you heat me (up) eternaly Black Sun

Semper sequindo odorem sanguis Ferrox currendo ex infernalis Semper sequindo odorem sanguis Est cerberus

You appear in my dream you pamper my black heart give (donate?) light to the Tree of Life you free me of the pain (Infact "the pain", not just "pain")

and infact you scare me eternally Black Sun

You fly faster than the light you are everywhere at once you are not father, mother and not (the kingdom of) heaven too

But without you i wouldnt be (there) eternally Black Sun

Semper sequindo odorem sanguis Ferrox currendo ex infernalis Semper sequindo odorem sanguis Est cerberus (Black Sun)

Frigeo, cor fit petra Vita mea fracta st et demissa Et perdita

Predator cerberus qui vit infernus fames ardens carme hominis mortalis

Semper sequindo odorem sanguis Ferrox currendo ex infernalis Semper sequindo odorem sanguis Est cerberus (Black Sun)

Semper sequindo odorem sanguis Ferrox currendo ex infernalis Semper sequindo odorem sanguis Est cerberus, est cerberus (Black Sun)

I love the interpretive qualities of this song, the German lyrics could almost be describing science, logic or knowledge itself. From greatdreams. com: "The symbolism of the Black Sun is the subject to fear for the powers of stasis, since it indicates drastic and terminal change." I like applying this to the speaker, whom can represent the dogmatic views of religion, devoured by their own ignorance, their own hellish demons, yet at the same time admitting the truth that reason "penetrates and numbs the mind, freeing one from pain."

Of course I could be wrong.

    In english:

You shine darker than the night You are older than the Light You're invisible to me Without a face or skin to see So terrible, and secretly Eternally, black sun

You penetrate and baste the mind Show my soul another light You seduce and desecrate So damn cold and far away And yet inside you heat me up Forever comes the black sun

You appear in all my dreams Touch my blank heart with your things The tree of life strives in your ace As you free me from the pain To tell the truth, you frighten me Eternally, black sun

You exceed the speed of light You're everywhere, and every time Not the father, nor the mother Nor the kingdom come of heaven But without you I'm nothing Endlessly, my black sun

    My black sun

My first thought was drugs, then it was sin. Sin fits with the latin lyrics and the german ones in my opinion. I don't know what the Schwarze Sonne has to do with anything though, but then again I don't really know that much about it. It could represent paganism or something unchristian drawing him away from god. I'm not sure.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
