It's a bone cold night. I'm breathing in the air.
It's freezing up my lungs, as I fight for words to share with you,
To tell you what you've done to me. You ripped me from my set in stone complacency.

You rose from the ashes like a phoenix with a heartache.
Now you're taking me away with you tonight and I know that I can't fly.
But when I'm in your arms, I'm holding up the sky.

It's a bone cold night. I'm writhing in despair.
It's freezing up my heart, as you fight for words to share with me,
To tell me, what my eyes can't see.
You ripped me from my set in stone complacency.

You rose from the ashes like a phoenix with a heartache.
Now you're taking me away with you tonight and I know that I can't fly.
But when I'm in your arms, I'm holding up the sky.

And there you were, standing there, like an answer to a dream I never had.
You showed me everything, showed me everything,
Showed me everything I never knew about me.

I love this song I listen to it like in the moring b4 I start school b/c it gives me SOOOO much encouragement to go on and it lets me know that with God I am holding up the sky...

God gave David the gift that He gave David from the bible....He gave him the gift to put stuff in words that have such an indepth meaning, and they flow so beautifully together! it is truly amazing...I love the fact that these guys are good enough to go mainstream, but they won't I love that! they choose to follow what God has for them.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
