I wanna live before I die
so don't say I have to cry on
one more freezing floor
I ask you to open the door
and see how things could have gone
The reason that it took so long
before you could figure out
that for so long I was about to break
and there were no arms to keep me
from harming me and now I'm searchin back to see
how I never tried to ask for some sympathy
'cause no- nobody wants to ride with me too far
'cause I might trip away
but in your arms I'd rather stay

You might just turn into something I like
You might just turn into something I like
You might just turn into something I li-li-li-li-li-li-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
You might just turn into something I

Want to dream about
Something I can't live withouit
My foot is in your hand
I want you to understand
how I could be confused
right after being used
but still your here in spite
when I close my eyes to dream at night
I've gotta keep my pants on
I gotta check my pulse before I've gone too far away
to hurt so i think I'll stay around to hear ya breath
saying all those words to me
unraveling my fantasy while I drink
my oleander tea

You might just turn into something I like
You might just turn into something I like
You might just turn into something I li-li-li-li-li-li-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
You might just turn into something I liii.... Yea-yea-ea-ea-ea-aa
You might just tur into something I like
You might just turn into something I like
You might just turn into something I.....

This song has such a cool sharp rock rhythm to it. I love it!

I believe that Katy is perhaps looking back on one of her relationships and that she is hoping that this person is patient enough. That she is damaged:

"The reason that it took so long before you could figure out that for so long I was about to break and there were no arms to keep me from harming me"

"I want you to understand how I could be confused right after being used"

And if that person sticks it out with her, they'll see the true her behind the scars. And that he might just be someone she'll truly like.

i personally think its about being abused in some way: "I wanna live before I die so don't say I have to cry on one more freezing floor I ask you to open the door and see how things could have gone " and correction its "and see how things could have BEEN" maybe thats the way its seems on someother website, but thats what i hear when i hear this song..

I don't think the songs about abuse. I just think its about a relationship that might happen and she's telling the person that they just might turn into something she's going to like.

FIrst of all, vanessarox_09, it IS "and see how things could have GONE". Check HER website: katyrose.net/

This song is about her being in a bad relationship. She really likes this guy, but he's using her. "how I could be confused right after being used". But she's drawn to him and she can't get him out of her head. She doesn't want to leave him, so she keeps convincing herself that he'll turn into a good guy. He'll turn into something she likes.

"I Want to dream about Something I can't live withouit My foot is in your hand I want you to understand how I could be confused right after being used but still your here in spite when I close my eyes to dream at night I've gotta keep my pants on I gotta check my pulse before I've gone too far away to hurt so i think I'll stay around to hear ya breath saying all those words to me unraveling my fantasy while I drink my oleander tea"

Although this could easily be passed off as a relationship song, this verse suggests rape or sexual abuse. How she says shes gotta keep her pants on, and her foot is in somebodys hand, with that I think she means that someone is trying to prevent her from running away. Also with the "but you're still here in spite, when I close my eyes to dream at night" suggests that something has shook her up so badly that she can't get it out of her head. This is sang with so much emotion.

i believe this relates to her harming, cutting or burning or something, herself (hence the lyrics, "there were no arms to keep me from harming me) and this boy let her down and she's mad, but now she's playing a game with him, saying "you MIGHT just turn into something i like".

love the song, she sings it with revenge, happiness, and agony all through the song and i like how it blends together.

wow! what an amazing song, its been ringing in my head ever since i bought the album, its so catchy and the chorus "you might just turn into something i like" is pure art, giving such a sense of possibility, this line just shakes me!

well to me, the song is abt this new guy she met who thinks shes the "all american type of girl", so she faces him with her past "Ive been fucked up, ive been through a lot, im moody i can be depressed i can be a total bitch when im angry, but hey guess what, theres a new rule for me "I wanna live before i die" "which to me really really sounds like a new beginning, like a new philiosophy in her life, so chances are shes changed, shes more confident now, shes got things under control but still nothing is for granted, so "this is me, i like you, if u wanna be in a relationship with me thats great if u dont it doesnt seem to matter"...

the whole song is abt possiblities, things can change with a blink of an eye but shes sure of one thing :she really likes him NOW...

but i dont really think theres been using in the relationship and DEFINITELY its not about an ex! "My foot is in ur hand" to me doesnt really make sense but i think its close to "i give u my all and i wanna lose control, you control my future (hence the foot)"

this is a cool song, but the meaning is once again unclear with all of the metaphors. Probably about Katy trying to trust her new boyfriend.

It's not about a bad relationship. It's about learning to trust in a new one and hoping your partner will understand why you are the way you are.

"I wanna live before I die so don't say I have to cry on one more freezing floor I ask you to open the door and see how things could have gone The reason that it took so long before you could figure out that for so long I was about to break and there were no arms to keep me from harming me and now I'm searchin back to see how I never tried to ask for some sympathy 'cause no- nobody wants to ride with me too far 'cause I might trip away but in your arms I'd rather stay"

In every other relationship, they've left her crying on the floor. Katy is/was a self harmer, & in that bit it means there's no-one to stop her from doing it. She wants to go on crazy adventures, but she'd rather stay in their arms.

"Want to dream about Something I can't live without" She wants to finally have something she can't live without so much so that she dreams about it.

"My foot is in your hand I want you to understand how I could be confused right after being used"

She hopes they'll realise and understand the way she acts how she does after being used so much.

"but still your here in spite when I close my eyes to dream at night I've gotta keep my pants on I gotta check my pulse before I've gone too far away to hurt so i think I'll stay around to hear ya breath saying all those words to me unraveling my fantasy while I drink my oleander tea"

In spite of it all, they're there and they're telling her things she wants to hear. Maybe true love? And everything is perfect and it's going the way she planned.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
