Sorry that we took so long
You probably thought we forgot your song
It makes us smile just so you know
To see your eyes at our shows

I wrote this song while I was drunk
I hope you don't mind that it was wine
But you called me and said you didn't want your friends to know
But what if you had to go?
What about then?
What about then Mildred?
Excuse me I mean music
What about then?

Sweet chariot of fire
Gon' swing us all the way
Sing us a song today, away-ay (zoom)
Away-ay, away-ay (zoom)
Away-ay, away-ay (zoom)
Away-ay, away-ay (zoom)

Or maybe I'm in your car just driving away
And everything's okay

Float around where there's no need to walk
And there's nothing but thoughts and feeling no talk
Where there's golden bees and silver birds
And dreams are like shootin' come true and heard
And every moment feels like a spin Mildred
I mean, a spin music
So what about then?

Sweet chariot of fire
Gon' swing us all the way
Sing us a song today, away-ay (zoom)
Away-ay, away-ay (zoom)
Away-ay, away-ay (zoom)
Away-ay, away-ay (zoom)

Or maybe I'm in your car just driving away
And everything's okay

Where every star flickers bright as sister
Just for the whisper commands your love
The bright sun in the sky all the flowers harmonize
And that's where your starry eyes will stand above

(Mildred, Mildred) Naw, fuck I mean Mildred
(Mildred, Mildred) How the fuck you gonna tell me it's Mildred
(Mildred, Mildred)(I'm sorry) not music (music)
Fuck it

Sweet chariot of fire
Gon' swing us all the way
Sing us a song today, away-ay (zoom)
Away-ay, away-ay (zoom)
Away-ay, away-ay (zoom)
Away-ay, away-ay (zoom)

Or maybe I'm in your car just driving away
And everything's okay

I Love You
You mean the world to me

Just a minute ago
Just a minute ago
Just a minute ago
I said some things I know that I can't change that (sorry)
But when I just screamed
That didn't mean for us to break
Break our pact

I'm searching for my way back
But I'm looking through a peephole
I'm trying to find my way back
I wanna be the hero

I'm here, you're there
I'm here, you're there
I'm here, you're there
Between us there's air, but no one is breathing (fudge them)
How can this be?
It's your face I see
This is so crazy
We're in the same room

(I'm searching for my way back girl) I'm searching for my way back
(I'm searching for my way back girl)
(I'm searching for my way back girl) But I'm looking through a peephole
(I'm searching for my way back girl)
(I'm searching for my way back girl)I'm trying to find my way back
(I'm searching for my way back girl)
(I'm searching for my way back girl) I wanna be the hero
(I'm searching for my way back girl)

I love you, forever

Hey, I don't care what it takes but I know we got to get there
(Got to get there)
We got to get there
(Got to get there)
I can see it now, you and me
I know nothing'll change if the both of us just sat here
(If we just sat here)
If we just sat here
(If we just sat here)
Come on join me girl, can't you see?

(Hey)
I'm searching for my way back (I'm lost! Where am I?)
But I'm looking thru a peephole (I just wanna go home)
I'm trying to find my way back (I'm out here by myself)
I wanna be the hero (I'm lost in space)

I'm searching for my way back (no rocky road start)
But I'm looking through a peephole (I just wanna see you)
I'm trying to find my way back (hey, no rocky road start)
I wanna be the hero (I just wanna lead you)

I'm searching for my way back
(I love you babe, love you babe, love you babe)

This song is about a fan named Mildred. She was diagnosed with cancer, and Pharrell wrote the song for her as a tribute. He promised her he wouldn't say her name but slips between calling her "Mildred" and "Music". Since they wrote the song, her cancer has been in remission.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
