Live Again (The Fall of Man) Lyrics
The road is narrow, the horizon wide
And to say what's waiting on the other side
Is so rewarding and the ultimate prize
But what good is something if you can't have it until you die?
[Chorus]
Desperate, tenacious, clinging like a grain of sand
Watching its foundation wash away (wash away)
Drunk with the assertions they know they can't defend
Confident that they might live again
Live again, live again
Would you give it all up to live again?
Live again, live again
Would you give it all up to live again?
Temptation? Revelation? You decide
Torture shows its colors often in disguise
Progress and purpose help us realize
We pass along a brighter faith even though it must be blind
[Chorus]
(Let's go!)
[Chorus]
And to say what's waiting on the other side
Is so rewarding and the ultimate prize
But what good is something if you can't have it until you die?
Desperate, tenacious, clinging like a grain of sand
Watching its foundation wash away (wash away)
Drunk with the assertions they know they can't defend
Confident that they might live again
Live again, live again
Would you give it all up to live again?
Live again, live again
Would you give it all up to live again?
Torture shows its colors often in disguise
Progress and purpose help us realize
We pass along a brighter faith even though it must be blind

This song inspired me to question life quite a bit. That last quote, "what good is something if you can't have it until you die?" is pretty powerful. I dont really like this song, it didnt work with the rest of the CD. But sound doesnt always matter and Bad Religion is a great band anywyas, right?
This is a song about a notion held amongst all Christians: life in heaven after their death on earth. Now, Greg questions this notion:
"But what good is something if you can’t have it until you die?"
By this I think he's trying to make two points: Is it really worth it that you have to die first before you can have it? .The other point I think he's trying to make and this one is more subtle a one: How can you be so sure of this promise of eternal life in heaven if you can only experience it after you've died?
There's no way to proove there's a heaven. This idea is revealed in the pre-chorus:
"Drunk with the assertions they know they can’t defend..."
OK I could go more into this but I'm fucking lazy, but you get the idea. Talk amongst yourselves.
What is good about something you can't have untill you die?
Yes. Many BR songs are about this exact theme, but people still don't quite get it sometimes. Wrinkled is of course, right on the nose.
The Modern age is here. Christianity is being disproven again, again and again and again and again.... "Desperate, tenacious, clinging like a grain of sand Watching its foundation wash away"
Also, in the June AMP magazine, they had an interview with Greg and Brett, and one of them mentioned that the song was related to Muslim fanatics too...
It's basically about all kinds of religious fanatics that prior a possible life after death over the life they are actually living right now

It's about Muslim suicide bombers. "But what good is something if you can’t have it until you die? " Muslims believe that, if you are martyred, you go straight to paradise. Catch is, you have to die first.
Well, the bible is being disproven if you take it for face value. A lot of people believe that the bible was written so that people of the time could understand it. If you told someone back then that God may have started the earth through evolution, or something else, they would think you're a looney. You have to remember, people of those times had the education of probably a 3rd grader.
God cannot be proven, nor disproven, that's where faith comes in. Life is nothing but tests and trials, and the prize comes depending on how well we've done.
At least thats my opinion.
