She Paints Me Blue Lyrics
Tonight I watch the lights go out in your house
Wondering how I could get so deep
And you could still get sleep
In vain I blame my trembling on the cold air
And I can't hide that I've relied on you
Like yellow does on blue
And you're my good feeling, I'm kneeling
Inside her room she paints me blue
And you are my reason for breathing
Inside her room she paints me blue
Atlanta started raining on me
And teenage love was underground
Tonight I break the surface
Atlanta started raining on me
But no young girl was claiming me
And naming me
And destiny get nervous and
You're my good feeling, I'm kneeling
Inside her room she paints me blue
And you are my reason for breathing
Inside her room she paints me blue, again
And you're my good feeling, I'm kneeling
Inside her room she paints me blue
And you are my reason for breathing
Inside her room she paints me blue, again
Atlanta started raining on me
On me
Atlanta started raining on me
On me
Wondering how I could get so deep
And you could still get sleep
In vain I blame my trembling on the cold air
And I can't hide that I've relied on you
Like yellow does on blue
Inside her room she paints me blue
And you are my reason for breathing
Inside her room she paints me blue
And teenage love was underground
Tonight I break the surface
Atlanta started raining on me
But no young girl was claiming me
And naming me
And destiny get nervous and
Inside her room she paints me blue
And you are my reason for breathing
Inside her room she paints me blue, again
Inside her room she paints me blue
And you are my reason for breathing
Inside her room she paints me blue, again
On me
Atlanta started raining on me
On me

"Tonight I watch the lights go out in your house Wondering how I could get so deep And you could still get sleep " these lines totally capture the feeling of getting in over your head in something and quesitoning how the other person is dealing with these same emotions. the "destiny gets nervous" line is truly poetic. he used destiny to comment on how the two are destined to be together, but the nervousness is both of them in the beginnning realizing that they should be together, realizing their destiny. Why all the references to atlanta tho??
This song is about Andrew's girlfriend Kelly, and how much he loves and their relationship in general, so sweet, i love him for it
SoCo is amazing, especially for songs like these. How many people can write a song that includes the words, "And you're my good feeling" and actually pull it off? Also, "And destiny gets nervous" is definitely one of the best lines ever.

What's the deal with the blue and yellow? This song means alot to me because my boyfriend used it to tell me how he feels when we first starting dating...so it really bothers me that after all this time i've spent listening to the song, i still can't figure out what the central metaphor in it means? Yellow relying on blue? Painting someone blue? ::Confused::
i realize this post is super old, but i decided to answer it incase other people are confused.

blue and yellow are complimentary colors, so they 'rely on eachother'.

blue and orange are complimentary colors, not blue and yellow. yellow is complimentary to purple

Whenever I hear that part of the song I keep thinking blue + yellow = green. I think it's like how when you're in a relationship with someone it's sort of like you've become one person because of how close you become and how much you rely on each other. When blue and yellow are mixed together they're relying on each other so my interpretation is that blue and yellow represent them in there relationship and how much they need each other.

it has to do with actual human perception, I don't remember how to describe it exactly but it has to do with rods and cones in your eyes. (It's been a really long time since I took the class that explained it to me.)

That line "I can't hide that I've relied on you, like yellow does on blue..." is awesome. SongPrincess, what I get from it is like the 3 primary colors are red, yellow and blue, and so to make other colors you need these ones, like for example yellow and blue would mean green, 7th grade art all over. So anyway, I think it's just a reference to the colors and how they go together or "rely" on one another, but I'm sure there are other ways to take it
Obviously the song is about his girlfriend of two or so years, Kelly (as it says "For Kelly" on the CD). He's basically just telling her how much he loves her and needs her, and how much he misses her. She paints him blue because while he's away, he thinks about how much he wants to be with her- and that saddens him because he can't. The yellow-on-blue simile could have to do with primary colors. Or it could also mean, well- yellow and blue are two somewhat contrasting colors that play off one another. You wouldn't expect them to look good together, but they do. Like those really ghey (I mean...awesome) Abercromie and Old Navy shirts that are dark blue with yellow stripes. Maybe what he's saying is that they are perfect for each other, even though at first glance they seem to be incompatible.
Just talk to him about Kel, he just lights up. It's so sweet. :sheepies: Andrew said the Yellow on blue can be many things, My friends and I said the primary thing, and How he likes Van Gogh, Well In Van Gogh's Later paintings...a lot of the Yellows were complimented with Blue..He smiled and said Anything goes. Fun stuff
