I Believe You Lyrics
This is my excuse to testify been a beaten down boy and I don't know why that's alright, that's alright
Well the truth was a lie and I don't know how it got me to follow and it's true that the lie that they sold me will never let me go
What I needed you to say was hidden far away
This is why I've had to justify, my head is shaken yeah but that's alright
What I needed to believe was hidden far from me
That's alright cause I believe you
Take advantage of a malleable mind, been a weakened sucker boy without a spine, but that's alright, that's alright
Tell me that I've got to fight your fights, and now I'm a bleeding boy without a life but that's alright, that's alright

What I needed to believe was hidden far from me
That's alright cause I believe you
But that's alright
Cuz I'm a sucka!
Don't feel bad because i won't cry
I'll do your will and not ask why
But that's alright because i believe you

I think its about how someones lied to you for a long time, and no matter how hard you try you cant forget the lie they told you. And when you confront them about it, you expect them to say one thing but they dont.
This is a fine example of a song that can be interpreted in many different ways; the most common opinions are that this is about Christianity, or perhaps cult mind-control. That's the thing about Klayton: never a straight answer.
Agreed with Fidley, never straight with Klatyon. To me it reffers to my relationship with my ex, for some time it was perfect for me, she also seemed to be satisfied and happy, and suddenly she told be the truth. The truth that she did not want to be with me anymore - she never told me she loved me "What I needed you to say was hidden far away". She refused me without any particular reason. I was so shocked I didn't even know how to ask about that - "That's alright cause I believe you". I just accepted it.
To me, It's about lies, yet loving someone so much you don't even care. Yet, if you were to question her, you wouldn't because you're too afraid to lose her.
Or possibly, not caring how bad she'd treat you, because you want something to hold onto so bad, you don't care what she asks you to do.
goos song but
good* song but.. lol.. my spelling is so shocking .
This song can be taken so many different ways. The 2 that are most obvious to me is on can be taken as a mockery, as in a yeah... sure... i believe you.
Or my favorite way to interpret this song is as if a 2 faced person was taking advantage of people who claimed to be part of a bigger party with a bigger purpose. The victim, after realization, is now saying hey that's OK. I can distinguish between the 2. The party and purpose is still true even if a member isn't.
Mantis has a good point. celldweller used to be a christian. im just sad too see he has slipped away from his faith.
I don't think he has slipped away from God, just christianity. He may very well be saved but just wants to help people out through music regardless if they are christian or not. I know after growing up in the Church and all it's hypocrisy sometimes I just want to leave Church and just try and leve for God. This song can be taken it many ways because it is so vague. I'm pretty sure he intended it to be that way.
oh yeah. totally. celldweller's songs all have very complex lyrics, and kalyton is very talented because basically all of his songs (can) have more than one meaning.

In my opinion, this song is about Klayton being beaten up as a kid. He often says in interviews and in his blogs that he got his ass kicked in school. A lot.
"been a beaten down boy and I don't know why"
"take advantage of a malleable mind, been a weakened sucker boy without a spine" -other kids took advantage of him and he never stood up for himself, just did as he was told and acted as they thought he should, leaving him to be their target.
"tell me that I've got to fight your fights and now I'm a bleeding boy without a life" -again, kids taking advantage of him and the way he thinks he should act in front of them, to pick fights and do stupid things, only to be beaten up by them later.
"don't feel bad, because I won't cry, I'll do your will and not ask why, that's alright cause I believe you. "
:\ reminds me of a kid I know...
