Long Live The Party

Andrew W.K. uses "party" as a metaphor for a lot of things, depending on the song. In "Party Hard", partying is doing what you love most without caring what people think. In this song, "the party" is more of a metaphor for the freedom to do what you want. People can try to restrict this freedom, they can make drugs illegal, they can bust up raves, but they can never truly kill the party. We will always find a way to have our fun.

"Do you care what you are? Where's your pride?"

Here, he's talking to the people who try to kill the party, which is basically anyone who has the false sense that their lifestyle is correct and others should follow it. We are all guilty of this at times, if you've ever laughed at a drunk guy dancing by himself, if you've ever seen someone doing something that wasn't "cool" in your book and judged them for it, all these kinds of instances are part of the problem. This song and AWK in general makes the statement that if people are having fun, there's nothing wrong with what they're doing. If you're spending your life making snide remarks from the back of the room at someone who's having fun, you're wasting your life, you are the uncool and pathetic one, not them.

"We don't know But we dont wonder why"

We don't understand why other people have fun in different ways from us, but unlike the party-killers, we don't care, we're too busy having our fun to care. Live and let live.

"The more that you can give it, then the more it will be And if you do not have it, you can take it from me All we ever wanted was a thing to believe, And now that we have found it, we have all that we need."

Probably my favorite AWK lyrics of all time. If you are non-judgmental and radiate positivity and acceptance like Andrew does, this will affect those around you and you will make the world a better place. If you aren't feeling good, you can listen to AWK and absorb some of his positivity. This is why I love Andrew W.K., the whole point of his music is to just make people feel good, and to have those good feelings inspire us to do what we're passionate about. Believing in the idea of doing what you want no matter what is all we need to be happy. We don't need complex religious or political philosophies to live a good life, the only philosophy we need is: do what you want, and let others do what they want. It's so simple, but somehow so hard for us to follow.

andrew W.K> loved the party so much that he dedicated an entire song to it.

Brilliantly, Andrew emphasizes the immortality of the party by repitition through each stanza. Truly, the party will not die, it lives on in this song and forever more.

The pride of Andrews people can be found in the immortal party, A source of inspiration, "all we ever wanted was a thing to believe" the party will inspire good will towards all souls of the party, brotherhood and equity even "and if you do not have it, you can take it from me"

the party is the only being worthy of an honor of this magnitude. Andrew W.K. ... ... you WILL have your party.
