My sex-change operation got botched
My guardian angel fell asleep on the watch
Now all I got in a Barbie Doll-crotch
I got an angry inch

Six inches forward and five inches back
I got a, I got an angry inch
Six inches forward and five inches back
I got a, I got an angry inch

I'm form the land where you still hear cries
I had to get out to sever all ties
I change my name and assumed a disguise
I got an angry inch

Six inches forward and five inches back
I got a, I got an angry inch
Six inches forward and five inches back
I got a, I got an angry inch

Six inches forward and five inches back
The train is coming and I am tied to the track
I try to get up but but I can't get no slack
I got an angry inch, angry inch, angry inch

My mother made my tits out of clay
My boyfriend told me he'd take me away
They dragged me to the doctor one day
I've got an angry inch

Six inches forward and five inches back
I got a, I got an angry inch
Six inches forward and five inches back
I got a, I got an angry inch

A long story short
When I woke up from the operation
I was bleeding down there
Bleeding from the gash between my legs
My first day as a woman
And already it's that time of the month
But two days later
The hole closed up and the wound healed
And I was left with a one inch mound of flesh
Where my penis used to be
Where my vagina never was
A one inch mound of flesh
With a scar running down it
Like a sideways grimace
On an eyeless face
It was just a little bulge
It was an angry inch

Six inches forward and five inches back
The train is coming and I'm tied to the track
I try to get up but I can't get no slack
I got an angry inch, angry inch, angry inch
Six inches forward and five inches back
Stay undercover 'til the night turns to black
I got my inch and I'm set to attack
I got an angry inch, angry inch, angry inch
Six inches forward and five inches back
The train is coming and I'm tied to the track
I try to get up but I can't get no slack
I got an angry inch, angry inch, angry inch
Six inches forward and five inches back
Stay undercover 'til the night turns to black
I got my inch and I'm set to attack
I got an angry inch, angry inch, angry inch
Angry inch, angry inch, angry inch
Angry inch, angry inch, angry inch

It's actually a cover of a song from the film and play Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It's about a gay guy who goes for a sex change and they screw it up.

Bravo to Type O for tackling this song.

I must say this song is too weird even for TON. I was surprised Pete would wirte such a song, I mean after reading Haunted, it's a big chande.

This is a powerful movie and the songs fit right in. Origins of Love is especially powerful. This goes deeper than stereotypical gay/trans movies.

The guy gets the operation to escape East Berlin with a US soldier. S/he gets to the states only to have him leave her for another young boy... while she watches the Berlin wall fall down. Ya gotta feel for her.

Oh - just to make sure you don't think I gave away the whole movie... that's just part of the back story.

    Song Meaning

Once and for all, Type O Negative did NOT write this song. It's a cover from Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which happened to be one of Pete Steele's favorite movies.

The meaning of this song, however, is about Hedwig getting his sex-change and waking up without a penis or vagina (1 inch mound of flesh)

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
