Looking for a penny on an empty beach
I've been looking for a lover who has eyes to see
While I'm here I wanna walk with you, hold your hand
In the sun, in the sun, in the sun, in the sun
Turquoise is the color I need to get clean
The forest burns, and with it something inside me
Looking for a way to leave the world today
But the world is gonna leave itself anyway
While I'm here I wanna walk with you, hold your hand
In the sun, in the sun, in the sun
Turquoise is the color I need to get clean
The forest burns, and with it something inside me
Together, together, together, together
Together, in the sun
I need to get clean
I need, I need, I need
Turquoise is the color I need to get clean
The forest burns, and with it something inside me
Looking for a way to leave the world today
I've been looking for a lover who has eyes to see
While I'm here I wanna walk with you, hold your hand
In the sun, in the sun, in the sun, in the sun
The forest burns, and with it something inside me
But the world is gonna leave itself anyway
While I'm here I wanna walk with you, hold your hand
In the sun, in the sun, in the sun
The forest burns, and with it something inside me
Together, in the sun
I need, I need, I need
The forest burns, and with it something inside me

I think that the color turquoise merely refers to the color of the ocean. Such a reference seems to fit with the lyrics "looking for a penny on an empty beach" and "in the sun." A turquoise ocean fits with water's traditional use as a symbol of purity and means of "getting clean."
The turquoise meaning in the song may refer to the sacred stone of the Native American Indians, whom believe the stone comes from their great ancestors tears. Legend has it, when they cried joyfully in the relief of rain their tears fell into Mother Earth and became the sky stone used for healing and cleansing of the bad spirits.
Turquoise is also the colour of the bluish green "flash" phenomenon that appears seconds after the sun sets beyond the horizon.
You don't always have to be popular to be one of the best bands ever. VAST is absolutely amazing, both their lyrics and the ambience created by the music. They are one of my favorite bands (second only to the Smashing Pumpkins) and I highly suggest their first and second albums, "Visual Audio Sensory Theater" and "Music for People." Both albums blow me out of the water.
heheh, I like vast because of this: Angry music with a soft-romantic lyric..
And always looking for a way to escape of something or to work something out..
Good lyric + Good sound = very good song to listen..
lovely song amazes me all the time. these words have so kmuch meaning. Vast is so amazing.
pop musics sucks. this is amazing.
Looking for a way to leave the world today.....For some reason that line REALLY connects with me...
I LOVE this song... It's definitely one of my favorites... But can some one figure out the significance of the color turquoise? It's been plaguing me since the moment I heard it...
Turquoise is the only bit I can figure out... I know it's tempting to put the meaning of a lot of songs down to drugs, but 'I need to get clean' sounds a heck of a lot like that. Given that, I'd imagine that turquoise is a pretty common paint scheme for the inside of a rehab centre.
However, the speaker's intended means of "getting clean" seems to be drowning himself in the ocean ("looking for a way to leave the world today").
