Good Lives Lyrics
Theres a plastic toy four door in the cereal box and
Hes licking off the sugar off the breakfast if chumps
Promise that forever we will never get better at growing up and learning to lie
There is no floor 13 theres not even a second story
You got one to tell and its sad as hell
Promise that forever we will never get better at growing up and learning to lie
Grad school kid with wall street glim
Got a suit and a tie and a record with winners
Promise that forever we will never get better at growing up and learning to lie
Im on my way back home now
Good lives are gold, like the oldest story
Will mine be told while im still young and horney
I know my role is to be a confusion
Set the clock back when Im growing old
This kid came over and I let him crash
But he went into my wallet and he grabbed my cash
Promise that forever we will never get better at growing up and learning to lie
And the good girlfriend she turned me in
I was lying with my eyes about adultery sin
Promise that forever we will never get better at growing up and learning to lie
Im on my way back home now
Good lives are gold, like the oldest story
Will mine be told while im still young and horney
I know my role is to be a confusion
Set the clock back when Im growing old
Never wanted to be like you or all the rest
Ive always been the first one to settle for second best
I never wanted to be I never wanted to be I never wanted to be
Like you

this is one of my favorite songs of all time. so underrated. i agreed with RestingPlace. but at the same time its nice cause at the same time i'm glad they're not all over MTV. but then again im sad they kinda died
always, what this song says to me is an ironic statement about good lives. i think its about a bunch of people who at first glance would be said to have "good lives" but in reality they are miserable.
I agree with who says that this is one of the most underrated bands of last 15 years, but the good news is that they came back together and a new album will be released this fall!
My interpretation on the string "There is no floor 13, theres not even a second story, You got one to tell and its sad as hell" is that is related to the movie "The thirteen floor", in which the characters can take possession on virtual life identities. It's a little bit more complicated, but watch the movie... ;)
IT'S "OF Chumps" in the below cited verse. He's referring to Wheaties and the chorus mocks the fact that adults lie to make money, have sex, get out of trouble, and, for all practical purposes, achieve anything that promotes self-preservation. Furthermore, "Good lives are gold like the oldest story," means we aspire to be reputable and honest in our lives but never are because we all fall short of our aspirations; we are human. Therefore, we aim to achieve nobility which the previous generations claims to have achieved (e.g., "I walked up hill both ways to get to school). The fact is, they never achieve anything noble either and neither will we... Sorry for the morbidity.
"there's a plastic toy four door in the cereal box and he's licking off the sugar off the breakfast if chumps."
There's a plastic dwarf warlord in the cereal box and He's licking off the sugar off the breakfast of chumps
Prep school kid with wall street glib
I know my role is to be all confusion Set the clock back I'm not growing old
Anyway. Definitely the best song on IAIYH... so awesome.
Set the clock back we're not not growing old
this song is about our generation of teens/young adults and it tells stories of different kinds of people that there are.
I'm still floored that these guys only sold 195k copies of this record, if they had just released this yesterday the radio would be all over this shit, I guess thats what you get for being ahead of your time. Amazing song...'Promise that forever we will never get better at growing up and learning to lie.'
Favorite Eve 6 song. IAIYH is one of the most underrated albums I've come across.
i think this song is about these group of kids waiting to tell their stories they just wanna have a say in the world and since there kids they are getting denined there chance
