Reiver's Music Lyrics

I gave up fighting. I've come to see these halos. Am I now worse off for this one night? All come enchanted, welcomed by the halos. All the while we know those enamored never miss us because we are all now in dying days, hear nothing and see no one. Nothing is all we own. I've taken to speaking words that only they know. How soon I did see, all here is unseen. I gave up trying. I've come to be these halos and welcome to our show those enamored who won't miss us because we are all now in dying days. With only echoes proving that I'm here with all the wraiths, for all these years and I have no desire to leave.

The "Reivers" were a band of robbers, basically, that ruled Scotland during the 14-17th centuries. They were like the mob- the Crown ruled, but the Reivers REALLY ruled. so. "I gave up fighting"- the reiver speaking has stopped his fighting and pillaging and whatnot "with all the wraiths, for all these years "- the wraiths are the dead reivers

he's a reiver, either dead or way past his time, with no others around him (they're all "wraiths" and "echos"). the most powerful 13 reiver families were named the "de'il's dozen" (ie devil's dozen).

and opticon- "to reave" was introduced to the englisg languaged by the Reivers.

Well don't you think that this could be about some sort of seance and the haols refer to a spirit of some kind. Since Davey claims to be wiccan, he could be referring to those that aren't wiccan to be the enamored ones since they still maintain some sort of love. Since he has to love, the love of anyone would be like an enamoring which plays into the "Smile" thing. So from there he gave up trying (suicide... i know another AFI song about suicide, but stay with me). Now that he is a halo (ghost, spirit, etc.) he has become a wraith and his presence can only be made in an echo and he has become happy in that place. It almost seems as though it is Dsvey Havok's version of what suicide and life as a spirit is like. Well that's all I've got, take it or leave it

reivers music. what does reivers sound like? reverse. try listening to the song backwords. no joke. it seriously scared the shit out of me. but song title aside, i love this song. i think its about trying to look on the brighter side of things, and not being able to relate.

First of all, I want to say that Napoleon Solo is a complete retard because Paul Revere spelled his name R-E-V-E-R-E, not R-E-I-V-E-R. Secondly, I wanted to say what I thought it was.The old English spelling of reaver is reiver and to reave means to seize and carry off forcibly or to deprive one of something, so maybe this is a song of a reiver.

needafix - I tried listening to this backwards to be honest, it was exactly what I expected - An AFI song backwards. No shocks, no hidden messages.

'Tis a great song though. I think 'I came to see these halos' means all the people he considers better than him

Dying days are actually nights... So he is in the darkness. He tries to be an acceptable person but hates it and would rather be in the dark (true) world.
