"They taste tension because it is their life, chrome complemental
Stop Looking for ourselves, bored towards most of it
We have grown to complain, the hole we have to fuck her
I'm still captive, hide in the distortion, it's a shame I'm still expected to wave
Though we have no disgruntled, we are lower girls, man, girls, good evening
Nothing is more propaganda than the world, tired of them stabbing, I am a
Forever but still I am a door to all of the worst who are jittery
Crazy people pretend me to not give a fuck
And we are made of a dry contact, without the people we aren't alive
We are cows scraping up our genitals, we saved our best milk
Propaganda is not done, break down me, then the faces will evolve
Let's just see the only child, the bored are to be of devoured, but not you"

"Let's see what we will bring, we will hide, we have grown just to die, does it
Their propaganda is not heavy, I have grown bored with their best milk
Evolve, contact them, complimental, tell them to hide
Bored out of this world, no one will answer us
Girls, no one is more abnormal or unimportant than, like them, I tried, I fucked them still
No more establishing, bored, don't accept them
About, our life, chrome, bite their bullet
There is fresh something, but all I'm trying to do
Is about their lifestyle is fucked, without those people we grow disgruntled
Propaganda has always worked, they are very dull, I expected their lives
Girls, there has to be something"

I thought about it more. it is kinda like Agustin said, about censorship. In an interview with marilyn manson he said something about not wanting to make "clean" edited versions of his music because it ruined it. Something like that.

In most cases, parents of children don't like they're children listening to "objectionable" music, especially Marilyn Manson. The children don't care, it doesn't poison their minds or anything, but the parents are paranoid. It's saying in the song that since parents are the ones who don't like it, that children should be the ones who should be permitted listen to it/watch it because they don't care.

As for the song's title Obsequy (The Death of Art), it's syaing when people try to censor works of art, like his, they "kill" it, they ruin it, they take away the message, and this is what Hitler had done during WWII, take away works of art, mainly by jews, that he didn't like, thus killing it. Marilyn Manson is saying how censorship is bad, and children should be permitted to view/listen to it if they want to.

This is from what I could gather. The words in parentheses I'm not sure of.

((man's voice)) Perhaps I should mention that we have decided that this, the (flip), or... 'homicide' is a little (special), a little too (macabre) for the squeamish. Therefore we have labeled it 'for juveniles only'. Adults will not be permitted to this, unless they are accompanied by their children. ((muffled screaming)) ((unintelligible voices)) There is a semi-intelligible man's voice at the end, but all I could make out is 'propaganda' and 'I fucking killed'.

As for the meaning, if seems fairly obvious it is about media censorship, and it is making the rather interesting (and true) statement that the parents are the ones that cannot handle offensive material, not the children.

Actually, I went 2 this one site and it said that The Death of Art is a decoding device for This Is the New S**t. It referes to Hitler and how he tried to kill the art of the Jews. He wanted ppl to be aware of the attribue they carried with them if they wanted art to "die"...

guys i searched for the lyrics and i found this

"The ancient pharoahs were not too bright they say, But they made one contribution that I live by to this day, It's the food pyramid, And its approved the USDA

Oh grains of the foundation, So please take my advice, Of five to eleven servings of bread, cereal or rice, Three to five of vegetables, And four fruits is best, Their antioxidensty fiber help you to digest, Three servings of yogurt, milk and cheese, Will help your bones and subsidize the cattle industry

A body needs to grow, And grow and take regimes, Why meat can be a tasty treat, Like fish or even beans

And when you eat your sweets, Make sure you try, To limit your servings, Or you'll...

    DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Everybody!

My body is a pyramid that's made of healthy foods, So do what we say, (Yeah!) Eat right every day, (Food!), I..... love...... you

    Buy American!"

WHAT IS THIS? definately not the lyrics of this song...im confused!

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
