I think she wants to kill him because he drives her crazy, after all, you do what you gotta do.

I think he might be kind of a destructive force in her life because she says "I got a man who makes the devil pale" meaning he's worse than the devil but she still likes him and the danger and excitement he provides.

I think the title "Man" is referring to the human race. I doubt it's about any one specific man. Well, maybe there was someone in mind when it was written, but it's not about him.
