hmm... I think the 'don't touch thepositive with the negative end cause after the sparks you're just alone in the dark' is about girls and boys. Because after the sparks of a relationship is over... thereis nothing really.
Its about him thinking so much about this girl, and in the end he realizes he was just wasting his time. I love this song, easy to relate to..well except that I'm a girl

I think its about a girl he likes that isn't a christian. He keeps going through things in his mind and re-analyzing them over and over trhying to justify being able to date her. I think he's referring to the verse about being unequally yolked when he mentions "don't touch teh positive.... left alone inthe dark" because although you might get along well at first, eventually such a relationship will simply make you empty... anyway, that's what i think.. it kinda hit me once driving home.

Does anybody think that this song is about sex? It sounds like Matt is talking about saving oneself for his future mate, his "dream come true," and how premarital sex only has negative consequences.
maybe it's about a non Christian girl... thats my theory anyway,
and she doesn't like him asmore than a friend anyway, but he keeps liking her... this song made me cryt he first time i heard it cause one of my guy friends liked me and i felt so bad cause i knew this was the kind of thing going thru his mind...
This song is just about related to any scenerio between a guy and a girl, but I agree with the sex idea "cause I lost the things I held on too" like his values, and then he's thinking "about how far [he] had let this go" and then he's saying that "after all the sparks you're left alone in the dark" but like I said, this song is easily related to tons of things
