His lips don't move but, still he speaks,
His dark green eyes, stare at me,
His tells me of his papa working on the railway,
Blowing his harmonica, in the morning,
I'm Checking in, I'm checking out,
Feeling low, I'm feeling out,
Deeper fish,
Deeper lungs,
Deeper words for the deeper tongues,
He said I'm telling you, I'm telling you, I'm telling you, I'm telling you,
He said I'm telling you, I'm telling you,

I'm burning the river, yeah,
Burning the river,
Burning I'm burning I'm burning I'm burning the river,
Oh the river,
Oh the river yeah

So I go home,
A girl lies in my bed,
I hold her hipbone and pull her closer,
I put her cold hands between my thighs,
Stare out the window, into a darkening sky

I'm Checking in, I'm checking out,
Feeling low, I'm feeling out,
Deeper fish,
Deeper lungs,
Deeper words for the deeper tongues,
He said I'm telling you, I'm telling you, I'm telling you, I'm telling you,
He said I'm telling you, I'm telling you,

I'm burning the river, yeah,
Burning the river,
Burning I'm burning I'm burning I'm burning the river,
Oh the river,
Oh the river yeah

She's left only her body for me,
I lie here feeling her hair, waiting for sleep,
In the early, early hours of night, of night,
In the early, early hours of night, of night

I'm Checking in, I'm checking out,
Feeling low, I'm feeling out,
Deeper fish,
Deeper lungs,
Deeper words for the deeper tongues,
He said I'm telling you, I'm telling you, I'm telling you, I'm telling you,
He said I'm telling you, I'm telling you,

I'm burning the river, yeah,
Burning the river,
Burning I'm burning I'm burning I'm burning the river,
yeah
Burning the river,
Burning I'm burning I'm burning I'm burning the river

I love this song, its my favorite dispatch/francis song.

The question is...is the girl laying in his bed dead?

My girlfriend is convinced she is, I'm not sure.

At first I thought no way but then I listened to it again and it almost made sense. But would Pete Francis make a song about lying in bed with a corpse? I don't know. Maybe their love is dead and that's why he says that "She left only her body for me" in the way that she's still there physically but emotionally she doesn't care anymore.

Like all Dispatch songs the lyrics are so darn ambigous it's hard to find out what they were actually thinking when they wrote it.

I think its kind of a parting song. Sort of like, let me hold you now because very soon I wont be able to anymore. And she does it for whatever reason.

Pete rocks in concert. I saw him on Thursday in NYC. He's a nice guy too.

She's left only her body for me, I lie here feeling her hair, waiting for sleep,

I always took that as she fell asleep first... I never thought she was dead...

its a song about someone you love who you've lost an emotional connection with, and just feeling empty about just having emotionless sex, trying to sleep at night with a person you have lost feelings for.

Might be crazy but I've wondered if by "Burning the River" he means he's totally cutting himself off from something/someone. Instead of just "burning bridges" he's burning the whole 'river' and starting fresh

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
