Independence Lyrics
How does it feel to find yourself playing for the wrong team with the stakes so high?
How does it feel to find yourself so blind to the sin your hiding deep inside?
Turn your back on the obvious facts and watch the city gnash and burn on you
Oblivious to your only way out and now the lifestyle's evidence too
Independence runs rampant while fire awaits for burning flesh overflowing like sets
Blind as the bats in the dark mindsets without hope of ever seeping through cracks
Like a fool
You're so proud of your arrogant mindset of lusts unspeakable, continue to drool
And now so content
Implement the tool
Your rainbow's a symbol
Of a smile on your face unforgettable
You look to the skies and smirk while your choice proves completely regrettable
Lust fills the sleepless nights
Thirty five and under the plight to sow invites
You'd better get to bead early...
Because the dawn's bringing light to melt the living penalty
And now you want to try to separate independence from your bonded state?
Worship your created self with unnatural debased states of mind for fates erased
With no excuse for ignorance 'cause His nature only proves His existence
Uncleanness assumes an image that's reflecting the faraway cry from creation
The signs of the times sign a contract (with fine print) providing your soul with destruction
And now you want to try to separate independence from your bonded state?
Isaiah 43:10-12

This is my favorite Project 86 song and no one has commented! It gives independence a negative meaning. It's talking about the fact that we all need God, and people who think they can get by independent from Him will be undone. There's a lot to be taken from this song, actually.
Yeah, lensflare youre right. Especially the line "You look to the skies and smirk while your choice proves completely regrettable" That to me just screams he thinks youve made the wrong decision if you're not a christian.
It's about homosexuality.
"Turn your back on the obvious facts and watch the city gnash and burn on you"
The city of Sodom.
"now the lifestyle's evidence too"
Speaking of a homosexual lifestyle.
"You're so proud of your arrogant mindset of lusts unspeakable, continue to drool"
Gay Pride day, the adoration of sexual lust (which happens in straight culture as well, mind you)
"Your rainbow's a symbol"
I think this one is pretty apparent.
"And now you want to try to separate independence from your bonded state?"
Wanting to seperate from the state they were created to be in.
"Worship your created self with unnatural debased states of mind"
Once again, the pride in an unnatural homosexual lifestyle.
"Uncleanness assumes an image that's reflecting the faraway cry from creation"
Humans were not created homosexual, which is a "faraway cry from creation".
This is just me pointing out what I think the lyrics say, not an expression of my own views. I think it's pretty apparent it's about the desire of homosexuals to gain independence and worship their own lusts as good things.
You can easily say that this song is talking about any sin, but it is specifically talking about Independence, this world praises independence, when really we need God, we have a dependence on him. When we become a child of God we create a bond, a relationship and to try to seperate from this bonded state is a sin. Now you could say that the symbolic rainbow is talking about the Gay pride and what not or you could say thats what what every secular person does, they try to twist everything saying that how they live their life is...

When we become a child of God we create a bond, a relationship and to try to seperate from this bonded state is a sin. Now you could say that the symbolic rainbow is talking about the Gay pride and what not or you could say thats what what every secular person does, they try to twist everything saying that how they live their life is good. We are created to have a relationship with God, so to go against it is unatural. To explain it in a little more depth its like this, When adam and Eve sinned against God, the fall of man, their souls were damaged. So now they have a hole in their soul, and their soul is hungry to fill that hole. Now Christians get a constant fill of love from God to fill this 'soul food', but if you dont have God you attempt to fill it with sex, drugs, rock'n'roll and all that jazz, but those are temporary fills and they will end, so then you have to go back for more and more, which create addictions and lifestyles of drugs and being gay or how ever you want to say it. Now about the whole gay thing, HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN, but God loves the person and hates their sins, that is my veiw on homosexuality and on any sin.
As much as large portions of the Christian community would backpedal from the lyrics in this song, I still firmly stand behind them. God is against sin just as much as always and what is a sin never changes.
