Chimes Lyrics
I hear a voice speaking softly amidst the breathing
An invitation to a place where hearts are beating
To a place where your dreams are made
Where songs are played
Where drinking never ceases and no dismay
I’m pushing my senses away to take another step
With my conscience aware of my heart’s intent
I feel a whisper, a friendly voice start to rise
“Indulge until your heart’s content and pay no mind.
Tomorrow is a lifetime away and this is here.
The time is now, so there’s nothing to fear.”
This hint of disaster is a beautiful face
Hiding grins, fronting the chills of warm embrace
“I’ll take you to a place where chimes are ringing
To a place with a chill where souls are singing
I’ll bring you to a state of nightmare’s clinging
Where your innocence dies with lies I’m bringing.”
I’ll take you to a place lying six feet below
Where bodies lie cowering soft and slow
And where the song of the chimes keeps ringing
And outside the window the demons are singing
I see the faces aware but the room is empty
And now I’m owned by my lifeless stare
My shelves are bare
I’m dreaming about a second chance to go back
Rewind the clock and attempt a playback
“Follow me to pain and I’ll show you”
An invitation to a place where hearts are beating
To a place where your dreams are made
Where songs are played
Where drinking never ceases and no dismay
I’m pushing my senses away to take another step
With my conscience aware of my heart’s intent
I feel a whisper, a friendly voice start to rise
“Indulge until your heart’s content and pay no mind.
Tomorrow is a lifetime away and this is here.
The time is now, so there’s nothing to fear.”
This hint of disaster is a beautiful face
Hiding grins, fronting the chills of warm embrace
To a place with a chill where souls are singing
I’ll bring you to a state of nightmare’s clinging
Where your innocence dies with lies I’m bringing.”
Where bodies lie cowering soft and slow
And where the song of the chimes keeps ringing
And outside the window the demons are singing
I see the faces aware but the room is empty
And now I’m owned by my lifeless stare
My shelves are bare
I’m dreaming about a second chance to go back

it's about alcohol abuse. andrew had problems with drinking for awhile.
i see it as a more general thing... sin that looks so alluring from a distance that you actually approach it, ignoring any warning you may hear... and when you get there, more lies to drag you in, "Tomorrow is a lifetime away and this is here. The time is now, so there’s nothing to fear..." saying there'll be plenty of time to "straighten out your life" before judgement. (of course, no man knows when his time is come. ) and then, some time later, when you're so deep, then you realize what a mess youre in and wish desperately to go back and try it a second time, to completely avoid it.
Actually yeah it does have that sound to it LittleGreenMan86, and because of that the message is strong through it. When I was listening to it at concert it was even stronger, you could see the look on everyone's face and feel it around you, the song is so strong. Out of all the bands that I listen to, Project 86 has the gift of getting their message through, and if you'll notice, the majority of their songs are all very long, descriptive, and verbally reinforced. Add their drums, guitar, and the lyrics and its a fortified message.
its about like how he wants to fight his desires to be in and of the world but its just so enticing and then the next day when he feels like crap this is what it means...its not worth it and he has so many regrets
A friend I went to school with got me listening to Project 86, and he told me that this song was the singers testimony. The story he told me went that they were a secular band (or at least didn't know Jesus) when they started and the singer took some acid and started freaking out over a wind chime outside, he thought it was the devil coming to get him. Anyway, that would explain the chorus.
This song is about temptation and/or trying something addictive for the first time. [Straight from the Schwab himself]
i think it's about the luering lies of the devil. and about taking the wrong path and wishing that he could "rewind the clock"
Yes, all about the deceit the Accusser has made, it has a good sound to it, creepy yet good.
I think it's about alchohol abuse and how satan tempts him to go back to it saying that he can get away with it and it will make him feel better but in the end it'll ruin him... that's what I think
I totally agree with what all y'all said about it being about the devil(what a mean guy) and all his lies of deceit and stuff like that. It is a creepy song, and it is actually kinda scary, but still, i like to listen to it... GOD Bless
