Told You So Lyrics

I never jumped in and rescued you
But I wanted to
I didn't tell you which way to go
‘Cause I thought you'd know

You had a problem with your new-found wealth
Brought it on yourself
I never told I told you so
But I told you so

Have to let it go
It's time to let it go
Now I can't believe
It took so long to leave
Perhaps one day I'll grieve
Or I never will

I never told you I agreed with you
I don't think I do
I wasn't sure quite what the whole thing meant
But I'm glad you went

I never thought that it could be painless
But it is I guess
I had myself fooled into needing you
Did I fool you, too?

Have to let it go
It's time to let it go

Now I can't believe
Took so long to leave
Perhaps one day I'll grieve
Or I never will

A viral infection
That can incubate for years
Caused by affection
Falling deep into arrears
No medication to procure
Makes me pure
There's no cure
I am sure

I never mentioned how I’ve prayed for you
Now I've paid for you
I never said that I would wait for you
It's too late for you

It's time to let it go
Now I can't believe
It took so long to leave
Perhaps one day I'll grieve
Or I never will
Or I never will

I never will
Oh I
Oh I
Oh I

I Never will
Never will

About someone saying someone is getting what they deserve. He means no malice, but the tradegy is painless because "he/she did it to himself/herself."

He remarks about how he should have looked out for them, but that it was NOT his fault, and ultimately, you can't hold him responsible and he's not going to feel guilty about something he did not do.

He did hope for the best for that person, but it didn't turn out right and he'll just walk away.

It could be about AIDS, but the virus part might just be a metaphor, for a common problem/addiction/past-time which causes problems.

Great song. Listen to it. It means what it says. 'You have to let it go.'

thats pretty heartless if it is about losing a friend to AIDS. Where did you hear that?

I think it's about Keven's Bone cancer "A viral infection That can incubate for years Caused by affection Falling deep into arrears No medication to procure "

@Bobo Bob but cancel is not a viral infection plus

no it does seem like its about AIDS. He's lost someone to AIDS and the line about perhaps someday I'll greive or I never will could simply be refering to the way he copes with the loss or operhaps there were problems before the death.

He also knew what that person was doing, and warned him/her. They were friends, and now that he/she has suffered the consequences, he won't tell them "I told you so" and rub it in their face, but he DID warn them, and so it's no skin off his back.

see, i totally don't think it's aids at all. A. that would be horribly cruel and B. it just has a different tone to it, to me. i always figured it was about love lost, i agree with BrandNewJersey. To me, it's about moving on from a relationship that just went sour and there's nothing you could do-"no medication to procure...there's no cure" for this pain. and the relationship has "fallen deep into arrears", so it becomes incurable. and he prayed for this person, but now it's over. and just "have to let it go," like any relationship that is over. also, it should be, "I had myself fooled into NEEDING you," instead of "meeting." (straight out of the stunt booklet.)

Seems like a relationship that just went on too long. The love ended in it. Finally, the singer decides he's had enough of it and leaves. He realizes he doesn't even miss the woman at all. Maybe he never even loved her, but had himself fooled into needing her.

It's over. Maybe one day he'll feel bad about the breakup, but he doesn't think so.
