In America Lyrics
only in america
we're slaves to be free
only in america we kill the unborn
to make ends meet
only in america
sexuality is democracy
only in america we stamp our god
"in god we trust"
what is right or wrong?
i dont know who to believe in
my soul sings a different song
in america
church bells ringing
pass the plate around
the choir is singing
as their leader falls to the ground
please mr prophet man
tell me which way to go
i gave my last dollar
can i still come to your show
what is right or wrong?
i dont know who to believe in
in america
i am right and you are wrong
i am right and you are wrong
i am right and you are wrong
no ones right and no ones wrong
in america
we're slaves to be free
only in america we kill the unborn
to make ends meet
only in america
sexuality is democracy
only in america we stamp our god
"in god we trust"
what is right or wrong?
i dont know who to believe in
my soul sings a different song
in america
church bells ringing
pass the plate around
the choir is singing
as their leader falls to the ground
please mr prophet man
tell me which way to go
i gave my last dollar
can i still come to your show
what is right or wrong?
i dont know who to believe in
in america
i am right and you are wrong
i am right and you are wrong
i am right and you are wrong
no ones right and no ones wrong
in america

but, this is a problem with all "democrocy's", the government is voted in democratically, but the country is run as a diguised totalitarian state, although not many people see this because the way society is structured so you may all think i am talking rubbish, but,
if you look at, untill the age of five, what you do is controlled by your parents, then the government forces you to go to school. once at school you are indoctranised with subtle propaghanda. acctually, thinking about it, life is propaghanda, cos the way society is structured by the government, all money and power hungry whores, you are brought up your whole life being told that you have to get a job, make money etc, this is all so the government can get their hands on it because it gives the power hit they need. life today is structured the way people want you to live it, not the way you want to live it, they give you a vote so you think you are free, but once a government is in power, they can do what they want, not what they ought to do. i mean, our government (labour, i'm british) cant even do what they want to. so they have resorted to attempting to banning fox hunting?!?!?! to take peoples eyes off their failures to carry out simple procedures such as pumping money into the NHS so it can have well payed staff and good equiptment. although this is a fault of the society living in a democracy has created for itself. in, say, an anarchist society, people would be working in small communities together and efficiantly, needing no money because people are working to support each other. to me this makes so much more sense than the capatilist society we live in today.
so true. have you seen a movie called Zeitgeist? if not, then do so, because you'll love it.

The government is corrupt, but it tries to sheild us from the truth.... Only in america we stamp our God "In God we trust" means that in america, our money is sometimes the only mean of God we have. By this, i mean that to some of us, money is more important than God
This song is very inspirational to me. It helps me to rememeber just what is wrong in this world of ours so I can do the exact oppisite.
what to hell are you writing in here??? creed is a band with high moral ideas, most of the lyrics are against mental slavery, racism and war...maybe they are some kind of religious...but this doesn't disturb me, although I don't believe in that there is a CRISTIAN or a ISLAMIC or a JEWISH god...don't you think it's just one god???
Anyway, I think creed is a band that tries to impart moral guidelines...and I think it's just unsuitable and ridiculous to write SUCH comments under that lyrics!
PS.: I'm from germany (you probably see this because of my mistakes) and I think the problems mentioned in this song don't only exist in america, but also in europe
this song reflects the faults in the american nation........it aint a perfect country as most think it is!
sorry, if you look at IT.
this song is about the moral decline of society, and how its crippling us
i think this song is genius. Scott Stapp is talking about how the problems of america can lead one to lose faith in society, government, and authority in general. Scott talks about greed, abortion, and how easy it is to lose your direction and abandon values when tempted by the "dark side", if you will. The best part of this song is that it is written in such a way that it is not a whiny bitchy song about triumphing over authority and hating the government, but about finding something to believe in when you don't believe in anything else. (.... i don't know who to believe in, my soul sings a different song in america)
uhum! fuckyouall let me give you a piece of advice. Now listen up, YOU DO NOT have to be Christian to listen to thier music. You can be any race, color, natonality, religion, sex whatever and you can still listen to thier music. So anyway back to the point,This song is 'bout how messed up america can be sometimes. My favroite part in the song is "Only in America sexuality is democracy".You don't see any women priests right. There aren't very many women are judges. My list can go on and on about how women can be forgotten.
This song definitely deals with the problems of the country and our world. It's an awesome song. Some of the guitar effects are really sweet.
