i think this song is genius. Scott Stapp is talking about how the problems of america can lead one to lose faith in society, government, and authority in general. Scott talks about greed, abortion, and how easy it is to lose your direction and abandon values when tempted by the "dark side", if you will. The best part of this song is that it is written in such a way that it is not a whiny bitchy song about triumphing over authority and hating the government, but about finding something to believe in when you don't believe in anything else.
