Young Grow Old Lyrics
He said he's falling to pieces
Fighting the boy and the man
Over his shoulder there was freedom
But consciousness has tied his hands
Embodied youth was his distinction
Now inhibition's in demand
So driven by his fear of weakness
That's his key to understand
So far in a distant land
There's a fight between boy and man
See the light through the open door
Sit and watch as the young grow old
Trading places in the circle
Turn the glass, spill the sand
They say that time can make the difference
But age doesn't make you a man
So far in a distant land
There's a fight between boy and man
See the light through the open door
Sit and watch as the young grow old
So young but overblown
So young but overblown
So young but overblown
Take a look now, see the boy is weakened
Watch him fade, watch him fade away
Take a bow and the boy is defeated
Is this the way, this the way?
So far in a distant land
There's a fight between boy and man
See the light through the open door
Sit and watch as the young grow old
Fighting the boy and the man
Over his shoulder there was freedom

i think this song actuall refers to the generation gap we all r witnessing nowdays.creed has always talked about such things in his songs,i mean regarding religion and faith.i just love creed and their work
look at how beautifully this song is written...
I believe that this song is about a Man, still clinging on his youth and has a hard time growing into manhood.
Myownprison333, how pathetic are you to believe that this jumble of words is so beautifully writen. An example for those nonbelievers is "So far in a distant land There's a fight between boy and man." How can a mere act of child abuse be beautiful?
"Take a look now, see the boy is weakened Watch him fade, watch him fade away Take a bow and the boy is defeated" This is proof that the lead singer of this band has sex with small boys, I guess he is priest like.

nerdy, you shallow peace of shit.. what you quoted is a mental theme. He means that he is struggling between being a boy and being a man
dude ilovecreed, you just said you want someone to get raped by their dad. that is not cool.
lol, thanks for looking out for me ilovecreed! PS - Creed rules!
Someone answer me one question please. Why isn't this song on the standard U.S. Human Clay album? It's and awesome song with a heavy beat annd Stapp actually tries to do a rap-sing-song thingy in it. The meaning is relatively clear. If you have read a Stapp Bio then you know that his relationship with his father was a bit shaky. When he was 17 he turned down a scholarship and left home, living in a car for a while (how long I'm not sure). He may be relating to this "gap" in his life between this "down time" of his life and later finding himself and getting himself under control as well as relating to his negative father-son relationship. Similar to the other song, "I'm Eighteen."
