Someone answer me one question please. Why isn't this song on the standard U.S. Human Clay album? It's and awesome song with a heavy beat annd Stapp actually tries to do a rap-sing-song thingy in it. The meaning is relatively clear. If you have read a Stapp Bio then you know that his relationship with his father was a bit shaky. When he was 17 he turned down a scholarship and left home, living in a car for a while (how long I'm not sure). He may be relating to this "gap" in his life between this "down time" of his life and later finding himself and getting himself under control as well as relating to his negative father-son relationship. Similar to the other song, "I'm Eighteen."
