She comes to me at night when I'm sleeping
She comes to me when I'm alone
She comes to me She holds my head when I'm crying
She comes to me She shuts my eyes
She brings me home

But I'm not sleeping anymore

She tells me when you look at me She tells me when you're lying
She tells me when you talk about me She lays me on the floor
She tells me when you're whispering She lies beside me naked
She tells me when you laugh at me
and she locks all the doors

But I'm not sleeping anymore

1-2-3-4-5-6-7a.m.
All alone again
But I've been through all this shit before
Spend my nights in self defense
Cry about my innocence
But I ain't all that innocent anymore

I see her on the TV I see her in the movies
I see her in these animals that dance inside my head
I'll follow you down baby Down into this valley
I'll follow you down baby But I won't come up again

But I'm not sleeping anymore

elizabeth is a real person, your'e thinking of MARIA i think. because adam says he alone in this song, it seems more like this girl that comes to him at night is all in his head. he imagines her coming to sit next to him and all that... and it just makes him feel more alone

it's probably wrong, but i've always thought this song is about him going through a nervous breakdown, i think the girl is maybe someone who he dated who was a tv star (maybe monica or rachel from freinds), but it's not really her, it's him dreaming, when he's lying in bed, it's so quiet and he gets all this time to think and so he imagines her with all his emotions she is telling him that everyone is against him and is laughing at him, making him paranoid, making him angry and possibly even suicidal. it all adds to the crap floating through his mind in life, how sad he is, how angry he is and how scared and mixed up he is, and the girl is adding to it, thats why he says he's not sleeping anymore, because he's overcome the worst of his breakdown and he's now on the mend, so because he's not sleeping, she can't hurt him, he also says about following her down through a valley, and he'll follow her down but won't come up again, basically meaning that following her down will bring him further and further into depression and self pity that he'll get beyond help, but he opts against that and this song is about coming out the other end. Does anyone agree with this? or am i speaking crap?

This song is probably my favorite CC song, although I love them all. I've never seen anything on sites like annabegins.com but I'll tell you what I think it means. This song is one of the most in depth crows songs ever. It is about an amazing girl who the guy in the song screwed up with. In the verse he describes the qualities about her that make her a great girl. "She comes to me at night when I'm alone/ She comes to me she holds my head...when I'm crying." Then in the chorus he describes how he screwed up. "But I'm not sleeping anymore." After the second chorus and the third are my favorite parts where the guy in the song just breaks apart and loses it. It's so artistic because the instrumentals become as hysterical as the singer and it just flows (or doesn't flow) so perfectly. In the end the guy kinda says that he'll make it, though. Learn from his mistakes and move on "I'm goin; out that door." If anyone has any info I'd like to hear whether or not this song is another about Elizabeth. The "I'm not sleeping part." reminds me of the song "I wish I was girl" which is about Elizabeth.

By the way, the lyrics at the end read:

Rain, rain, go away Come again some other day Cuz I've got all this shit to say But I'm going back to find my way My sister's mother's favorite son Lost among the chosen ones But I've got news for everyone Cuz I'm going out that door

this is probaly wrong.., but this song makes me think the girl is his conscience..or someone he dreams of or that he wants people to be. pppl who dont hide anything and dont have any part of them covered up. someone who has everything out there (she lays beside me naked). And he only dreams about her when he sleeps, but when he wakes up, he realizes that people arent like that (im not sleeping anymore) and it gets him all sad and whatnot. but yep thats just my opinion.

Wow, I see this song very differently. I think that the girl is someone he thought loved him, but she was actually cruel and devious. The song is about finally realizing what she is. It starts out "she comes to me at night, when I'm sleeping..." Then he goes on to describe the ways she comforts him, seduces him.... and tells him that his friends aren't really. ("she tells me when you look at me, she tells me when you're lying", etc.) In the end, he "wakes up", and decides he doesn't want to go back to that, that he's alone and it sucks. But he's been through it before, and even if he misses the way it was when he was naive, he isn't going back to that.

ok, i'm confusing myself trying to interpret this all so i'm just going to say i think the 'you' is the girl he's currently with and 'she' is someone who's already in love with him and believes he would be better off with her so she's like poisoning him against his girl. he cheats with this girl and ends up losing them both and that's when he wakes up and realises what an arse he's been (i'm not sleeping anymore, i ain't all that innocent anymore) i think when he says "i see her on the t.v, movies, in my head" it means he can't forget what he's done to these girls and how he behaved. i just love how you can interpret songs just about any way you want.

    My Interpretation

i always thought the "she" referred to either depression or drug use, like heroin...

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
