1020 am 1020 am
When will I ever see you again
1020 am
When will I ever see you again

I carry you out
It starts to sink in
When will I ever see you again
You'll be with me still
Ever from now 1020 am

'Cause I remember everything you did
And I remember everything you did
Everything you were
Everything you said
Yeah I remember everything you did

1020 am
When will I ever see you again
1020 am
When will I ever see you again

Maybe it's written to someone who died or left him at 10:20 AM, and he's remembering them?

    Or it's a radio station... I'm a dumbass.

I think it's a radio station, mainly because the song is AM rather than a.m. Anyways, it's hard to tell what this is about, possibly a criticism of today's popular music (compared to when radio was only AM) or maybe just Spoon's frustration because of their lack of radio play.

i always interpreted it as 10:20 am, the time of day, and thought that it was sort of a morning-after-a-one-night-stand kind of thing. the night meant something to him--he remembers everything she said and did--but maybe he's leaving whatever city she's in and is sort of melancholy about the lost possibility of a relationship.

I've generally thought of it as being about a person who died (though of course it can be interpreted any way you like). The words, like "it starts to sink in" and "you'll be with me still", etc, seem more potent when they're about death.

This is probably really lame but I had a cat a couple years ago that died at almost exactly 10:20 a.m. As I was carrying her out to bury her the words "I carry you out, it starts to sink in" fit entirely too perfectly.

This song is about the death of his grandfather; he found out at 10:20 am. He was very close to him and served as a pallbearer at his funeral, hence the lines, "I carry you out/it starts to sink in."

    Song Meaning

Spoon has been known to write lyrics about drugs, especially concerning cannabis usage. The time 10:20 is as far away from 4:20 that you can get, being 6 hours away from both 4:20 AM and 4:20 PM. I think this song is about Britt Daniel's pining for that feeling that he cherishes, which is symbolically out-of-reach. I don't necessarily think that Britt is a daily stoner, but he often writes subtle lyrics with the intention of enabling particular groups of people to easily identify with his message.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
