Hope unkown. Sometimes just waking is surreal.
I walk right through the nameless ones.
I know that hope's unknown.
Sometimes the water feels so real.
As I walk through it fills my lungs, my god, I'm drowning.
This day never seems to end.
This pain, never.
The rage I will not let go.

I hear them calling.
I feel them gnawing out holes through flawless soulds.

So alone. Sometimes I swear that I can hear the taunting of the voiceless ones.
I fear that I alone fear those ceased to feel they're alone inside of this place.
I am the misplaced.
Now every faCe, it looks familiar...
then every face would melt away until...
now everyone, do you know, I know your deception?

Not a bad cover. Most bands would probably have ruined the song but Dexter knows AFI too well to do that. Doesn`t have the edge of the original which is one of the best songs by one of the best bands ever.

I'm sorry, but this is a bad cover... if you are going to cover a song- u can't murder it...I'm not saying it's bad in the sense that it doesn't sound like the original- cause that isn't the point of most covers, but they DO try and make it sound the same- it only shows just how bad the singer's voice is in comparison to AFI's... AFI blows them out of the water... bad cover for them to do...makes them sound bad

dude, i dunno wtf u r talking about. dexters voice rules and so does daveys, it is just 2 diff voices. as for making it sound the same. on a good cover, u should keep the original sound tyhere too...hence jade, and davey going and doing back up vocals in the studio w/ dexter and noodles. and plus, though this version lacks the edge in the original, it makes up for it w/ its increased speed.

OK, this is starting to bother me, but just so everyone knows this Offspring does a great version of this song. And another thing, AFI DID NOT ORIGINALLY WRITE, SING, OR PRODUCE THIS SONG! It was Glenn Danzig of the Misfits. AFI has this song on their all hallows E.P. and all the songs on that CD are misfits covers. Okay i got that off my back. Hi i'm new here.

anyway, i have to agree and disagree with most of you. yes, i agree that dexter cannot and i doubt ever will sound like havok, whether you consiter that good or bad. instrumentally though, this song kicks AFI's ass. i don't know about the misfit's version because honestly I don't listen to them :/

Somewhere Only We Know
Keane
Per the FAQ on Keane's website, Keane's drummer Richard Hughes, stated the following: "We've been asked whether "Somewhere Only We Know" is about a specific place, and Tim has been saying that, for him, or us as individuals, it might be about a geographical space, or a feeling; it can mean something individual to each person, and they can interpret it to a memory of theirs... It's perhaps more of a theme rather than a specific message... Feelings that may be universal, without necessarily being totally specific to us, or a place, or a time..." With the nostalgic sentiment and the overall tone of the song, I think Keane is attempting to express a Portuguese term known as 'saudade', which does not have a direct English translation but roughly means "that which we remember because it is gone."

Sunglasses at Night
Corey Hart
In the 1980s, sunglasses were a common fashion for people who wanted to adopt a "tough guy" persona (note all the cop shows from that era -- Simon & Simon, Miami Vice, etc. -- where the lead characters wore shades). So I think this song is about a guy who wears shades as a way of hiding his insecurity after learning that his girlfriend is cheating on him. He's trying to pretend that he's a "tough guy" to hide the fact that his girlfriend's affair is disturbing him.

Indigo
Of Mice & Men
This track is about is about questioning why the sky would choose to be blue if it had the choice to be anything else, “blue also meaning sad,” states frontman Aaron Pauley. “It's about comforting a loved one in a time of loss by telling them you feel blue, too.”

System
Mel And Kim
Just listening for the 784,654th time....and it's just perfect in every way. Just incredible. The only reason it was remade was to scoop up a boatload of money from a more modern and accepting audience. But it is a completely different song than the other one that sounds slapped together in a few takes without a thought for the meaning. This song captivates me still, after 50+ years. Takes me to the deep South and the poverty of some who lived thru truly hard times. And the powerful spirit of a poor young girl being abandoned to her future with only a red dress and her wits to keep her alive. She not only stayed alive, she turned her hard beginnings around, became self sufficient, successful and someone with respect for herself. She didn't let the naysayers and judgers stop her. She's the one sitting in the drivers seat at the end. So, not a song about a poor girl, but a song of hope and how you can rise up no matter how far down you started. There is a huge difference between a singer who simply belts out a song that is on a page in front of them, and someone who can convey an entire experience with their voice. Telling not just a story with words, but taking you inside it and making you feel like you are there, with their interpretation.
