The Boy Who Destroyed The World Lyrics

Once there was boy who had vibrant glow, but as it goes, someone took it from him.
One day through the rain I heard him meekly moan, he said
"Will you wrap your arms around me as I'm falling?"
Remember when we were all so beautiful? But since then we've lost our glow.
They said it hurt their eyes but he would never know that they were filled with regret as their own dissipated.
He said, "I now feel more desperately alone, even though they wrapped their arms around me as I'd fallen."

They said it hurt their eyes, but he would never know that they were claiming regret as their own...
as their own dissipated.

Im not a big fan of A.F.I. but this song rocks. I guess this song is about how age and experiances can affect your life, and take away from your personality.

I believe that this song is about suicide. "Will you wrap your arms around me as I'm falling?" means he's looking for something to save him from despair and "I now feel more desperately alone, even though they wrapped their arms around me as I'd fallen." is him not being able to find anything to save him eventhough there are people who do love him.

"he would never know that they were filled with regret as their own dissipated " - everyone is upset about his death, but he can never know that and never knew what he meant to everyone

Even the title has elements of this.. "The Boy Who Destroyed the World" - because he destroyed the lives of all who loved him.

@OriginalZynkster you hit the nail on the head

I think this song has a lot to do with the loss of innocence and even conformity to society's standards. The one person who sticks out is the one who still has their glow, and though the people around us will say that they will be there for us, they really just want us to conform to their own standards so that they may not feel as though they are the ones that has lost what is important to them. Innocence is one of these things.

This is definitely to do with loss of innocence. It's so obvious, yet still so subtle, if that's possible. Classic AFI track. Peace out.

It seems to me that this is one of thoes songs that has multiple meanings, it just depends on how you take it. What I see is that when we are young, we are vibrant and invinsible. However, when we grow and check into reality it all changes. We suddenly are not as important or substantual. The line of "Once there was boy who had vibrant glow, but as it goes, someone took it from him." I think the someone is society as a whole. Society subliminally states that conformity is the key, and the boy in the song gets sucked into the rules of society.
And the part at the end with the rain is so cool! I just love it!

punk in drublic says... yeah, loss of innosence.. I'm sorry if I sound like.. a copier here but it's hard to be orginial when everyone else has the same opinion as u... but it's like when you're little you don't realize what's really going on because you're not given that sort of responsibility... so when ur young u just are carefree and u begin to luv life a lot.. things are simplier, etc. And when u grow old, our societly becomes (for u) more corrupt and therefor corrupts u with the truth.
