Charles Atlas Lyrics
You've seen it all a thousand times,
you've heard it all before.
You've danced the steps,
you wrote the rhymes.
So pass?
too many times,
but you're hollow at the core.
Two generations past you by.
You think there's nothing left.
But look around and you will see what our world has grown to be.
We are the now, not the past.
Can't you even try to see the strength with which
we've built ourselves to be.
I know that you will never be able to destroy what it's meant to me.
You've never seen the likes of us.
We are your novelty.
A brand new trend with mass appeal,
don't like the truth,
don't like what's real.
You're jumping into something you'll never understand.
You think that it's a passing phase.
It's our entire life.
You revel in rebellious ways,
rebellion that the media made.
When you change your channel,
we'll smash your T.V.
you've heard it all before.

This song pretty much describes what a afi is and the underground scene that they are in. It's written pretty straight forward and describes their struggle to where they are as a band and the benefits that they reap. This is more or less a message to those who doubted they would make it as a band, and they're throwing back in their faces and saying "piss on you, we're successful"
this song is about how the older generation thinks the punk is just a passing trend and will be gone w/ in a couple years but they are sayig piss on you this is who i am and its not gonna change nomatter if you like it or not. it descibes a struggle to become a band and to over come the peples words of disincourigment.
this song doesnt get enough credit, this song can really give you a good rush, right after the solo, and it moves up a few frets(guitar)
I don't like this AFI song much. It's underrated because it's not as good as the others.
This song is most definetely about poseurs.
This song is pretty ironic now that AFI has completely turned its back on the punk scene.
First of all if you really are an AFI and appreciate them whole heartedly you would know why they dont play punk anymore so dont go on judging and critising them. Second of all this is a really good example of AFI in the early years and the reason why its classed as being so underrated if that people just dotn really give a shit about a bands earlier stuff. You cant appreciate a band fully if you ignore their songs, and this is a really good song on one of AFI's best albums.
For reals AFI never turned their back on punk. They don't play the same stuff anymore. Did you notice over the course of 15 years they've evovled NOT sold out.
AFI deserves to be on the TV now and days. They've payed their dues, now it's time to reap the benifits of being an amazng band.
Yeah... 'cause people don't seem to realise what "selling out" means. It's when you make the kinda record music industries want you to make, instead of making a record you want to make. And I honestly think they've never done that.
