This has a feeling of wanting to move on from the past, change for the better. "man its a weight on my mind...and that's fine" and "i'm a believer in the new"
Its about being amongst a group of liars and how they are there to decieve and confuse when all he is trying to do is move along. But he's stuck sifting through all the shit talk people keep feeding him and its always on his mind trying to deal with it.
this song is about a guy whose in love with a girl who has ruined his self esteem. she has lied and cheated on him many times. it messes with him psychologically but he tells himself things will get better because she loves him so its fine. however, he just discovered that she is in love with a man who left for the military (to the east coast). she is only with him because she cant currently be with her true love until he gets back in a couple years. he tells himself that if things dont get better; if he doesnt meet someone else who can save him from this ocean of depression and denial soon, he will kill himself. at the end he cries out in desperation, realizing that things arent going to get better.
i forgot to mention the chorus is this story extremely condensed, while the verse tells the story in more depth. Man, its a weight on my mind-all the previous lies and cheating. but thats fine- because he thinks she still loves him and he loves her But now we wade past the point of decline- he just found out she is actually in love with the guy in the military, and everything he told himself before goes out the window Theres no time-something needs to happen fast to make him feel better or hell kill himself.
