Out of touch, out of reach, yeah
You could try to get closer to me
I'm in luck, I'm in deep, yeah
Hypnotized, I'm shakin' to my knees

I gotta know tonight
If you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feeling
Can't stop this fight

Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria
Oh, can you feel it? (Oh can you feel it?)
Do you believe it? (Do you believe it?)
It's such a magical mysteria
When you get that feelin' (when you get that feelin')
Better start believin' (better start believin')
'Cause it's a miracle, oh say you will, ooh babe
Hysteria when you're near

Out of me, into you, yeah
You can hide it's just a one way street
Oh, I believe I'm in you, yeah
Open wide, that's right, dream me off my feet
Oh, believe in me

I gotta know tonight
If you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feeling
Can't stop this fire

Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria
Oh, can you feel it? (Oh can you feel it?)
Do you believe it? (Do you believe it?)
It's such a magical mysteria
When you get that feelin' (when you get that feelin')
Better start believin' (better start believin')
'Cause it's a miracle, oh say you will, ooh babe
Hysteria when you're near

Come on

I gotta know tonight
If you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feeling
Can't stop this fire

Oh, I get hysterical, hysteria
Oh, can you feel it? (Oh, can you feel it?)
Do you believe it? (Do you believe it?)
It's such a magical mysteria
When you get that feelin' (when you get that feelin')
Better start believin' (better start believin')
'Cause it's a miracle, oh say you will, ooh babe (oh can you feel it? Ooh)

(Oh, I get hysterical) hysterical, (hysteria) hysteria
(When you get that feeling) you'd better believe it
(Better start believing) because it's a miracle
Oh, say you will, oh babe, say you will

Get closer to me, get closer, baby (oh)
Baby, closer, (closer) get closer (get closer), closer to me

he sees a girl and he wants to have her so bad. man i can't even begin to count how many times this has happened to me. i mean hey its happened to all of us right?

soft song, but it hits hard. Joe is a fucking killer singer. i heard that on def leppard's website this was rated as their best song in a survey. that tells you something doesn't it?

I agree with masterofpuppets80. This is a song about a girl who drives the guy crazy because he wants her so bad.

That's why he's "gotta know tonight, if you're alone tonight." He'd go even more batty if he knew she was with someone else.

He's pouring his soul out to this girl.

This was the very first Def Leppard song that I ever heard, I instantly fell in love with it. It doesn't get as much attention as it probably should as it is in the shadow of some of the other singles off of the Hysteria CD

Love the sexual overtones of the 2nd verse: "Out of me, into you yeah You could hide it's just a one way street I believe I'm in you, yeah Open wide, that's right, dream me off my feet Oh, believe in me "

I absolutely love this song, and miss these passionate songs from the 80's and 90's. You won't find passionate love/sex songs like this one in this day and age. Nowadays sex is a joke.

Well, I have to agree with just about everyone else here. This song is about wanting so badly to be with someone that it makes you crazy. I've been there myself in real life, more than once.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again.
