Walk away, if you want to
It's okay, if you need to
You can run but you can never hide
From the shadow that's creepin' up beside you

There's a magic runnin' through your soul
But you can't have it all

Whatever you do
I'll be two steps behind you
Wherever you go
And I'll be there to remind you
That it only takes a minute of your precious time
To turn around
I'll be two steps behind
Yea, yea

Take the time
To think about it
Just walk the line, you know you just can't fight it
Take a look around you'll see what you can find
Like the fire that's burnin' up inside me

Now there's a magic runnin' through your soul
But you can't have it all, no

Whatever you do
I'll be two steps behind you
Wherever you go
And I'll be there to remind you
That it only takes a minute of your precious time
To turn around
I'll be two steps behind
Yea, yea
Oh, ho

Oh, there's a magic running through your soul
But you, you can't have it all

Whatever you do
I'll be two steps behind you
Wherever you go
And I'll be there to remind you
That it only takes a minute of your precious time
To turn around
I'll be two steps behind
Yea baby, two steps behind
Oh sugar, two steps behind

If you take this song literally, it WILL come off stalkerish, however, the band, i think, intented for the song to be understood metaphorically. meaning, that he'llalways be there for her, a.k.a two steps behind, and that she should realise it, "take a minute of her precious time... to turn around"

    great acoustic hit, good shit

Yeah, this was an awesome song. However, I guess by the time they wrote it, they had already grown up if you know what I mean. I guess eventually its not about the sex, drugs, and riffs anymore, they want to teach a lesson with their music. As a 16 year old, nothing could be more horrifying!

This is a perfect song to chill out too. I don't think it was the end of their wild days just another side to them.

I'm 14 and I just saw them in Concert, the Rock of Ages concert; they had us sing along with us. Joe Elliot has an amazing voice.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
