Up on the stand, the society meeting
That was the way, was the way that I found you
Drunk after work, here in the late night feelings
That was the way, was the way that I found you
Sat in the crowd, watching the women's tennis
That was the way, was the way that I found you
Saw who you were, picking up from the canvas
That was the way; I was wrapped around you,
Met you while you were switching on
And checked your box on the blue coupon
That was how I found...

Up on the stand, the society meeting
That was the way, was the way that I found you
Drunk after work, here in the late night feelings
That was the way; I was wrapped around you
Kicked your wheel in the midday sun
And saved your place in the peloton
That was how I found...

Sat in the crowd, watching the women's tennis
That was the way, was the way that I found you
Saw who you were, picking up from the canvas
That was the way; I was wrapped around you
You still don't know what I want
Picked up your book in a street kiosk
That was how I found...

Up on the stand, the society meeting
That was the way, was the way that I found you
Late night feelings, trying to set for the winter
To leave you this way, the way I found you
Met you while you were switching on
And checked your box on the blue coupon
That was how I found...

I might be wrong, but it sounds more like "Late night feelings travel south for the winter" than "trying to set for the winter", which if that's the case, almost sounds like a veiled reference to masturbation. Probably way off on that, though. Seems like it could be, though.

Isn't it "picking up from the chemist's"? (chemist being British for pharmacist)

The bit that goes 'met you while you were switching on/ and checked your box on the blue coupon' makes me think of a mail order sex robot. But it doesn't make any sense in the context of the rest of the song, so scrap that.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Amazing

Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend.
