This revelation is the death of ignorance
Tangled in a state of suffocation
Slave to self righteousness
Damnation is on your lips

From sorrow to serenity, the truth is absolution,
From sorrow to serenity, its on your head

This is my last serenade
I feel you as you fall away
This is my last serenade
From yourself you can't run away

It's your choice, point the finger
But it's on your head
Your destination is a choice within yourself
Will you rise or become a slave
To self righteousness
Open up your heart and gaze within

Well "hardcore" is essentialy just a new form of thrash-metal. Very early Metallica-esque sound. And to some extent also a good bit of Slayer...well thats what I hear anyway. To me KSE are a metal band, but it really doesn't matter what style they play or who their influences are...its just damn good music, nothing more.

This is song is beautiful. Killswitch Engage is the best and has been the best since I first heard them. How much better can this band get? The skys the limit here. We're looking at a huge band in the future of local hardcore. (Boston) !

I compared them to old Metallica...when they made decent music, if you listen some of the opening parts to some of their songs do sound alot like stuff off of "Ride the Lightning", and a few of their songs sound like left-overs fron "...and Justice for All". Yes they do sound like a bit of Machinehead. They aren't completely original, KSE is a really great band but they do have a bit of those two band's sounds as well as many other bands in their music. And they arent hardcore, "Alive or Just Breathing" is a Metal album (with Hardcore influences), their earlier work may be hardcore but like it or not they are very much a Metal band, based on that album.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
