I love this song...I love how it starts, and it's a great cowboy song.
I have the 'movie version' of this song, where a quote from the movie has been added at the start...

Adds just that little bit to the song I think..Top song, and even better for fans of the story of Billy the Kid, William H Bonney.

this is about a guy whos had a hard life, probably done time or fucked up in some way or another who knows that his time is coming to an end and wants to die honourably, "i've lived life to it's fullest, let this boy die like a man"
I first heard this song on the movie "YOUNG GUNS II" and it is the greatest cowboy theme I have ever heard. Great lyrics.
