Someday I'll Be Saturday Night Lyrics
Hey man, I'm alive
I'm takin' each day and night at a time
I'm feelin' like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night
Hey my name is Jim, where did I go wrong
My life's a bargain basement, all the good shit's gone
I just can't hold a job, where do I belong
Been sleeping in my car, my dreams move on
My name is Billy Jean, my love was bought and sold
I'm only sixteen I feel a hundred years old
My foster daddy went, took my innocence away
The street life aint much better but at least I'm getting paid
And Tuesday just might go my way
It can't get worse than yesterday
Thursdays Fridays aint been kind
But somehow I'll survive
Hey man, I'm alive
I'm taking each day and night at a time
Yeah I'm down, but I know I'll get by
Hey, hey, hey, hey, man I gotta live my life
Like I aint got nothing but this roll of the dice
I'm feeling like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday Night
Now I can't say my name or tell you where I am
I want to blow myself away, don't know if I can
I wish that I could be in some other time and place
With someone elses soul, someone elses face
Oh, Tuesday just might go my way
It can't get worse than yesterday
Thursdays, Fridays aint been kind
But somehow I'll survive
Hey, man I'm alive
I'm taking each day and night at a time
Yeah I'm down, but I know I'll get by
Hey, hey, hey, hey, man I gotta live my life
I'm gonna pick up all the pieces and whats left of my pride
I'm feeling like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night
Saturday night
Here we go
Someday I'll be Saturday night
I'll be back on my feet, I'll be doing all right
It may not be tomorrow baby, thats ok
I aint going down, gonna find a way
Hey, hey, hey
Man I'm alive I'm taking each day and night at a time
Yeah I'm down, but I know I'll get by
Hey, hey, hey, hey man I'm gonna live my life
Like I aint got nothing but this roll of the dice
I'm feeling like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night
I'm feeling like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night
Saturday night ... all right
All right ... all right
Saturday night
After listening to the demo track of this, a good portion of the lyrics have changed as well as the musical pattern within.
There are multiple people "participating" in this song. First guy is Jim, who is a Vietnam vet (lyrics in demo version), and is reduced to literally nothing.
Second is a girl who was a victim of abuse or even perhaps rape from her foster father (took my innocence away).
Third person is an individual who cannot say their name.
At the very beginning of the demo version of the song, Jon says "I'm going drinkin'"
This leads me to believe this could be taking place in a bar early in the week (unchaotic, usually filled with those whose lives are attached to the bottle, but often willing to open up their own pandoras boxes of life).
Three very different lives all significantly affected in some way, drowning their sorrows in alcohol, contemplating life, but with a slim glimmer of hope left (Saturday night).
Very good song . It's about a teenager facing many problems ,but this teenager is not ready to give up .There is some message of hope here.
i think this song could really be for a person of any age, it's just about bouncing back on you feet after some difficult problems.......
Song about sticking in there and getting through the tough times because someday there will be a Saturday night.
I related real well to this song after my bf and I broke up after 2.5 years.. it was tough, but I knew it was for the best.. this song helped. This line especially: "I'm taking each day and night at a time".. very important. I love this song. :)
