I personally believe that this song has nothing to do with her mother. I believe that it's about a woman very close to her and about growing up with that person and watching them become a woman, and a mother.
To me, this song is for every girl/women/mother who needs to hear that they're beautiful.
This is a really...beautiful song! lol "Beautiful mother, frozen in ice" I'm pretty sure this song is all about the artist's mother, and how she feels about her mother's life. Maybe that she'd like to know more about it, but her mom wont open up about those things.
Incredibly beautiful. I could see that. Although that song at the end of this CD she says Hi to her mother but meant to say why is your life a joke? That makes me think she didn't have a good relationship with her. Maybe that song was during an angry moment and this was more a contemplative moment about her mother.

definatly bittersweet... shes been eaiting for her mother to grow her old life... i think this means her mother is stubborn, somehwhat difficult to stand, but she loves her mother anyway
This is definetly one of the best songs ever written... and by far the best ever by Poe!! It really touches me very deeply even though i can't say what it exactly is about... but i can't see how the song should be about her and her mother having a really BAD relationship, cause i think the song and the way she sings it is really positive in its energy... and it really makes feel happy, not sad...
When i hear this song, I imagine the artist looking through a bunch of old pictures of her mother. Each picture is different. Something terrible must have happened to the mother because the artist seems to speak of her in the past.
Every time I've heard this it reminds of not just my mother as like a little girl,but like my grandmothers and my aunts. All the women in my family and what Marilyn Monroe said"Every little girl should be told that they are beautiful even if their not". Sorry paraphrasing.
