Yep it's definitely lucid ophthalmology. I find it hilarious how people always interpret lyrics to have religious or anti-religious meanings in them. |

| Porcupine Tree – Bonnie the Cat Lyrics

|
From what I've heard, this song was originally called Aggressive. However, one of the bandmate's cats was called Bonnie and it was pretty mean. So they changed the song name accordingly.
As for what the song lyrics mean, I have no idea. It's dark and creepy though, thanks to the Silent Hill styled intro. |

"Your sight irreparable by your optician"
LOL the funniest line ever. That's like a brutal grindgore band singing "Your charred bloody limbs are torn from your lifeless cadaver! you are now unable to attend your next yoga class!" |

Don't assume I don't listen to metal. I've got a vast array of metal bands I listen to. More than you most likely do.
I'm just putting these pathetic CC fans in their places who think they are so hardcore for liking crappy music with "sick" lyrics. |

octobersnackbar, you are quite wrong.
I'm pretty outgoing. I have a job, a girlfriend. I've never done illegal drugs. I've never had the urge to cut myself or literally kill anybody. Most metal music has very technical & complex composition and 90% of artists would fail trying to play so efficiently. Not only that but usually the lyrics are deeper and more meaningful than anything you'd hear on your demographic radiostations. (Not the case with a shitty band like Cannibal Corpse) So I suggest you shut your mouth and grow some manjunk before you outlash your ignorant opinions about metal again. Listen to some bands like Becoming the Archetype, Sacrificium, Byzantine, Opeth, Protest the Hero, Gojira, and Dream Theater.. then just maybe you'll wake up with a pair of balls. |

| Matthew Good Band – Everything Is Automatic Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
This song is about modern living and how everything is handed to us so easily. Entertainment, work, etc. Electronics, inventions, replacing humans with robotics in factories.. traveling in our 300hp SUVs, eating away earth's resources. Humanity consumes the earth to make everything easier for us and our living here in North America. We're nearly all blind to the media and the latest trends. It's sick, really.
Matthew Good catches this perfectly in this song.
The last part of the song:
"One day you'll decompose
And you wake up and those
Those birds are singing "
Have you ever been through a hard time in your life and you're at the bottom of the barrel; and you just look at the sky and nature and the trees? You see the birds flying around and hear their songs.. and you just kind of realize the exact meaning he portrays here. Nature is a thing of beauty; and no matter how easy we have it we have to realize we're nothing compared to what we've built ourselves up to be. |

This song has the most beautiful electric guitar melody at the end of the song. I've never heard something so emotionally moving; using no words to convey it. I cry nearly every time I hear the last 1/3 of the song. |

| Opeth – Ghost of Perdition Lyrics
|
This song is very dear to me because it is the song that got me into Opeth. I was sitting on the porch at night listening to this song with my eyes closed and I couldn't believe how amazing it was.
Anyways; on to the meaning of the song:
Most of the people have got it so far, it's dealing with cancer, or some terminal disease which the character has gotten and they will be dealt with according to to how their fate is played out. All the son can do is let nature take its course.
As someone pointed out earlier, though. ^
I can see lots of meanings in this song pertaining to a similiar scenario, whether it be someone who has died due to disease, old age, accident. Even a failed marriage or relationship. I get that of course from this verse, which is my favorite in the song:
"If one cut the source of the flow
And everything would change
Would conviction fall
In the shadow of the righteous
The phantasm of you mind
Might be calling you to go
Defying the forgotten mortals
Where the victim is the prey"
It's basically dealing with loss, and having to accept what has happened. Things happen for a reason, whether it be God's/HigherBeing's or your own decision. They happened because they did, and it's impossible to change. |

Thats definitely not what the song is about, Ascent.
It's just a song about the innocent days in life when we were young and carefree. This song is obviously closely tied to SW's childhood. I gather though; that this is the serial killer's life before being tainted. SW just kind of mixed in his own personal life into the song. What a beautiful song it is, though. |

I'm 24 and this kind of became me and my ex girlfriend's song. She first played it for me on her mp3 player when i was driving her back across the states to my house on a roadtrip together. It just became our song and I don't even think I can listen to it any longer without bringing back those good, but painful memories.. |

I have to say the most worse songs by dream theater has to be This Dying soul and even more "The Test that stumped it all" It's like "Hallo! What the hell are they doing in that song?"
Are you an idiot or something? Sorry but it sure seems like it if you think those are the worst DT songs. They are among the best. |

This is my favorite song by these guys. The solo is incredible and the bridge leading out of it makes me headbang every time with its crazy time signature.
I can't help but think somebody was poisoned by this person and they are now watching over them in their death bed, just waiting for them to pass as they happily watch them suffer.... pretty creepy stuff. |

This song is all whats wrong with the mainstream music industry. It's just a gimmicky cash-in attempt at a controversial subject. Plus the lyrics pretty much sum up the girl is a cheating slut. Great way to preach to all the girls out there.
Go listen to some real music please. Like Porcupine Tree. |

My ex girlfriend broke up with me to be with another guy. A few months later she came back to me. I took the bait and accepted her back.. well a few days later she says she still has feelings for the other guy. We went through the same cycle again even after she told me she knew she really wanted me this time. I've had it with this bullshit and these broken promises. |

I can't help but think the music video for this song has to do something with this song's meaning. The first person's interpretation made me think he could be right because of the children in the video maybe having to do something with the song. Whatever it is, it's an amazing song. Not just lyrically, but my gosh, the guitar play and distortion is incredible... Great metal band. |

Me and my now ex-g/f held hands together while in my car driving back to her house while the last half of this song was playing. It was nearing sundown and it was just really pretty out. I couldn't believe how well that last half of the song fit the mood. I'd do anything to relive that moment again, it was like a dream that I never wanted to wake up from. Whenever I hear this song I always think of that now. I'll never forget that. |
