The Longest Year

Amazing song, best off the new album for sure. To me the song seems like the perspective of someone who knows the end (either for them, or the world in general) is coming, and is reflecting on how hopeless everything (even the sun, which in a way gives life to the earth) is. The future is cold, so is the sun, everything's hopeless.

One of my favorites off of Night is the New Day. Any luck deciphering any other lyrics from the album?

This seems to be a very decadent song on how the future seems so pointless or lost.

Any of you guys seen the movie "The Road"? This song captures the mood and atmosphere of that movie almost perfectly.

Cynic fatalism with a hint of optimism that lays just out of reach of the songs subect.
