This song is about the Giant Mine Murders in Yellowknife, NWT, Canada. On 18 September 1992, a bomb planted by Roger Warren exploded, killing 9 miners. The mining company was in the midst of a labour dispute with their workers and the victims were workers who had crossed the picket lines or temporary replacements ("scabs"). |

"In 2003, I was approached by a filmmaker, Roger Maunder, to write songs for a feature-length film to be shot next summer called Mundy Pond. This song was written for a scene in which one of the female characters silently confronts her abusive husband. While he is passed out on the couch, she puts a pot of fat on the stove, turns on the burner, and walks out of the house." -- Colleen Power |

"This song came out of a fourteen-hour ferry ride from Argentia to North Sydney in July 2002. I had a lot on my mind. I went out on deck and the fog was so thick that I could barely see my hand in front of me. A few days later, at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival, I performed along with Dave Panting and Geoff Panting. Our set was cut short by thunder and lightning. I was permitted a solo "tweener" before the Irish Descendants on the last night of the festival and I performed this song for the first time." -- Collleen Power |

"I've love to say that I wrote this in Newfoundland, but that would be lies. I spent a lot of time in Cape Breton after the release of my last record and quite literally fell in love with the place and the people. This song is dedicated to the Cape Bretoners, especially everyone I met at The House of Rock." -- Colleen Power |

"When I moved into my room at 20 Holloway Street, there was a box of stuff left there from the previous tenant. In that box was a clock. I asked Phil, the guy who owned the box about the clock and he told me I could have it. I brought it to Cape Breton and put it on the wall at the House of Rock in Sydney. Then came this song." -- Colleen Power
This song was recorded live at The Ship Inn/The Ship Pub, with "The Ship Pub Chorus" which was composed of everyone drinking in the pub that night. We were taught the lyrics on the fly and the song was recorded in a single take. Her sound engineer referred to her as Colleen "One Take Or Less" Power. |

"Being "face and eyes" into something is a Newfoundland expression meaning being completely intent on whatever one is doing, not allowing for any distractions whatsoever. I wrote this song a few weeks into a relationship I never assumed would last as long as it has." -- Colleen Power |

"I was originally inspired to write this song when I was at Chuggle's in Antigonish, Nova Scotia with Rock Ranger reading a newspaper. One of the headlines read, "More Dead Frogs Found in Antigonish." I have since discovered that 32% of the world's amphibian population is either extinct or endangered. This is due to disease, pollution and climate change. I have always had a soft spot for frogs, and as a child I kept many as pets. We would catch them in the brook behind our house and return them later." - Colleen Power |
