Newfoundland Weather Lyrics
It's cold enough out to cut you in two
It's in your bones and it goes right through you
It's thick of fog and you can't see across the road
Now the sun is splitting the rocks
Above you and me in the middle of peace talks
Maybe we'll wait and decide our fate when summer's over
Oh, you and me are like Newfoundland weather
We're hard to predict, can it get any better?
We got thunder and lightning and a love turning sour
Conditions are subject to change in the hour
No we shouldn't beat it to death
But maybe there's hope for us yet
Patterns are shifting, a calm spell is here, so we're on hold
Pile all the blankets on
Don't jump to conclusions that winter is gone
Close the windows 'cause to night it might snow
Oh, you and me are like Newfoundland weather
We're hard to predict, can it get any better?
We got thunder and lightning and a love turning sour
Conditions are subject to change in the hour
All winter long we were so down
It happens when the sun don't come out
A cold front is coming in from the
Northeast just to test your soul
Oh, you and me are like Newfoundland weather
We're hard to predict, can it get any better?
We got thunder and lightning and a love turning sour
Conditions are subject to change in the hour
It's in your bones and it goes right through you
It's thick of fog and you can't see across the road
Above you and me in the middle of peace talks
Maybe we'll wait and decide our fate when summer's over
We're hard to predict, can it get any better?
We got thunder and lightning and a love turning sour
Conditions are subject to change in the hour
But maybe there's hope for us yet
Patterns are shifting, a calm spell is here, so we're on hold
Don't jump to conclusions that winter is gone
Close the windows 'cause to night it might snow
We're hard to predict, can it get any better?
We got thunder and lightning and a love turning sour
Conditions are subject to change in the hour
It happens when the sun don't come out
A cold front is coming in from the
Northeast just to test your soul
We're hard to predict, can it get any better?
We got thunder and lightning and a love turning sour
Conditions are subject to change in the hour

"This song came out of a fourteen-hour ferry ride from Argentia to North Sydney in July 2002. I had a lot on my mind. I went out on deck and the fog was so thick that I could barely see my hand in front of me. A few days later, at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival, I performed along with Dave Panting and Geoff Panting. Our set was cut short by thunder and lightning. I was permitted a solo "tweener" before the Irish Descendants on the last night of the festival and I performed this song for the first time." -- Collleen Power
