Mum's The Word Lyrics
I hope you get your 15 years of fame
Three square a day
And a picture with your name across your chest
Would suit you best
How you feeling, All is well?
You get more than you expected
When it exploded
Living hell's alive and well
Congratulations
Give yourself a little pat
They fucked the brothers around
They won't be coming back
You made quite sure of that
You made so sure of that
And mum's the only word now
For the children of the dads who will not talk
Under a million tons of rock
Their lips are sealed and so are yours
You used to have a longer fuse
Did some of it get used
Cause you get short when you get loaded
Since it exploded, since it exploded
And mum's the only word now
For the children of the dads who will not talk
Under a million tons of rock
Their lips are sealed and so are yours
Three square a day
And a picture with your name across your chest
Would suit you best
How you feeling, All is well?
You get more than you expected
When it exploded
Congratulations
Give yourself a little pat
They fucked the brothers around
They won't be coming back
You made quite sure of that
You made so sure of that
For the children of the dads who will not talk
Under a million tons of rock
Their lips are sealed and so are yours
Did some of it get used
Cause you get short when you get loaded
Since it exploded, since it exploded
For the children of the dads who will not talk
Under a million tons of rock
Their lips are sealed and so are yours

This song is about the Giant Mine Murders in Yellowknife, NWT, Canada. On 18 September 1992, a bomb planted by Roger Warren exploded, killing 9 miners. The mining company was in the midst of a labour dispute with their workers and the victims were workers who had crossed the picket lines or temporary replacements ("scabs").
