Eisley – Sad Lyrics 13 years ago
The first thing I thought when I read the lyrics is that this is about Hayley Williams. But it could also be to anyone who was going to be with Chad after Sherri since we don't know every detail.

Paramore – In the Mourning Lyrics 13 years ago
The song obviously is pointing towards the situation with the Farro brothers splitting from the remaining members, but even so, I really love this song. The lyrics are clever and easy to relate to and the guitar part is very pretty as well. I can't wait to hear this in a full band version.

New Found Glory – It's Not Your Fault Lyrics 13 years ago
I heard this song about five years ago, and still I'm not exactly sure what it means, but I've got a decen idea. I think it's possible that the speaker isn't the one the girl is in a relationship with, or want to be in a relationship with. He's someone who likes the girl or is close friends with and is trying to help her through some problems. She thinks that everything that has gone wrong in her life is her fault, but he knows that it's not and while he tries to assure her of that, her pain is too much for him to handle ("a sense of heat I couldn't bear to touch").

Hey Monday – Hangover Lyrics 13 years ago
For a long time I've been trying to figure out how to describe the feeling that some guys (unfortunately) give you after you've even just talked to them, and this song describes it perfectly. You're never expecting it, and then it's like having a hangover, or as if you're going to just fall down on the floor. Love how Cass can express herself so easily through song.

Hey Monday – Homecoming Lyrics 13 years ago
This was the very first song I heard from Hey Monday, right around the time when they had that contest to pick their new band name! I love the song because it's so honest and very easy to relate to. Basically, it's a girl (Cass) explaining to a guy she once loved that she's coming back home (whether in a literal sense or figuratively back into his life) and wants him to give her a second chance. Or...perhaps it's her telling him that since she messed up the first time, and she knows that he might keep breaking her heart, she wants him to know that he needs to change or let her know that it will be okay later on. Anyway, love this song so much!

Hey Monday – How You Love Me Now Lyrics 13 years ago
The lyrics are simple to understand, but I do love them. This is a great song for those of us who have known a few players in our lifetime. But as for the Paramore comparisons and jabs, I thought that sort of thing died out long ago. Everyone knows that HM is far different and more pop than Paramore. And honestly, I like Cass's voice better. When I saw them in concert last spring, she actually had a really good, clear voice live and SINGS instead of shouting and jumping around to where you can't hear any of the right notes, like Hayley Williams. I know that many people prefer Hayley because Paramore is a "real" band, but now that everyone knows about the her name on the record deal thing (which is exactly what happened with Cass as well) then it's not so different. Just different sounds.

Hey Monday – Arizona Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this is suppose to be about a literal distance between two people, a long distance relationship. It makes sense because Cassadee is from Florida. It's basically her telling a guy (who she probably wasn't with for very long or only saw a couple of times) that he's just not who she thought he was in the beginning. Maybe he ended up being with another girl or he was mean in the end, but the song is fairly easy to figure out, which is what I like about HM's music. It's simple, it makes sense, and it's not cryptic or ridiculous. Love this song so much.

Taylor Swift – Dear John Lyrics 13 years ago
I know that the media has taken hold of this song and established that it's about John Mayer, but Taylor specifically said in an interview that she was inspired to write this song after seeing the movie 'Dear John'. A 'dear John' letter is one that you're sending to a guy you know it won't work out with. It's sort of a goodbye letter. People have just automatically assumed that it's about Mayer though both of them have denied time and time again that there was ever a more than professional relationship between them.

But anyway. This song is fantastic and so emotional. Probably one of Taylor's best works to date.

Taylor Swift – Speak Now Lyrics 13 years ago
Adored this song from the start. The first time I ever heard about it was on a message board or something where someone said (this is all hearsay) that she wrote it about Hayley Williams and Josh Farro. I don't really believe the story seeing as the timeline wouldn't make to much sense, but it also sort of fits. When Taylor explained the story behind it in an interview, she said that she was inspired from what a friend had told her about a guy she'd been in love with since they were young and all of a sudden, he's getting married. Taylor put herself in the girl's shoes and thought about how it would be if she were in love with someone who was getting married and couldn't do anything about it. No matter who the friend was who she was speaking for, I still love it.

Taylor Swift – Better Than Revenge Lyrics 13 years ago
Love this song so much. Just the lyrics are incredible on their own. Like many other people have said, the very first thing I thought about when I read the lyrics was that the tone and all reminded me so much of Misery Business, but Taylor put her own twist on it. I also love that she's being so direct and well, revengeful.

Stellar Kart – Finish Last Lyrics 13 years ago
This has always been my favorite song by them. Always. It expresses exactly what all Christians should live by, which is that we shouldn't care what the world thinks about the way we look or how we act because what we do is all for God's glory, not for our own. I'd love the chance to sing this in my church.

Stellar Kart – All my heart Lyrics 13 years ago
I love this song because, even though lyrically it's not completely original or anything new, it's still so good and says just what it needs to in just a few words. It's a blessing to know that there are still (good) bands out there who can express their love for God without being afraid of saying exactly what they mean.

Stellar Kart – Innocent Lyrics 13 years ago
It's speaking of how the world, society, and even love has changed for the worst. He's still wanting to be innocent and have everything simple and pure, whereas everyone else has it all sort of backwards. I also like that he comments on how we, in these days, praise people for mistakes and misconduct. That cannot be stressed enough.

Stellar Kart – The Right One Lyrics 13 years ago
The song's pretty self explanatory (and a little cheesy at times), but it's really sweet and I like that it's so straight forward. I think it's also possible that he's saying he'll wait for the right girl, trusting that God will let them meet.

Never Shout Never – Cheatercheaterbestfriendeater Lyrics 13 years ago
It's him telling the story about him and his ex and how she cheated on him with his best friend. Pretty obvious explanation and such a sad song.

Never Shout Never – Lousy Truth Lyrics 13 years ago
I believe it's him telling his girlfriend (or ex) that even though the truth hurts, she needs to know exactly how he feels. It seems that he's telling her about what's happened since he began touring and been away from home and how that has effected their relationship. And it's also possible that he's slightly resentful of her for making him feel bad about going out on the road and being away for so long. He wants her to understand that he's not trying to hurt her and hopes that she'll go out and find someone else who can keep up a normal relationship.

Never Shout Never – Sacrilegious Lyrics 13 years ago
I honestly don't think Chris is attempting to say that sin is right or actually be sacrilegious in a literal way. Mainly he's just explaining his gripes with the world of Christianity in a general sense. Most of us are aware of how hypocritical that world is and how the people who call themselves true followers of Jesus Christ turn around and do the very things they tell others not to do. I understand this completely from growing up going to church and finding out just how so-called 'Christians' are.

I think he's also saying that you can believe in Jesus and have some form of salvation without having to attend an actual and be free of the drama that goes along with it. A lot of people might not completely agree with that (including me at times), but I understand exactly what he's singing about.

Never Shout Never – Piggy Bank Lyrics 13 years ago
This is one of my favorite songs from 'Harmony'. I think it's basically him saying that he's thrilled the girl he's with isn't obsessed with material things, regardless of whether or not he had a lot of money or not. Also, I think he's saying that he's happy she's okay with doing simple things instead of extravagant events and such.

This song makes me want to dance. Haha. Absolutely adore this song, btw. It's so sweet and cute (not that rare for Christofer, but still) and I cannot wait to hear it live this fall.

The Maine – Fuel To The Fire Lyrics 13 years ago
About a girl who's possibly a tease or just playing hard to get. I do think it's sort of rare to have a guy actually admit that he likes when a girl doesn't just give everything away right off and not get angry and leave. She's actually making him work for attention and affection. Love this song.

The Maine – The Town's Been Talkin' Lyrics 13 years ago
Love this song. It's a pretty easy song to understand. I think it's basically about John telling a girl to either change or leave the guy she's dating because she's not in the relationship for the right reasons. It's possible the girl dated him before and now she's with one of his friends or he just knows the guy from somewhere.

Taylor Swift – Innocent Lyrics 13 years ago
I like the song, but not the fact that Taylor used it at the VMA's. I mean, I love Taylor and I'm a fan of hers, but the idea for using it then and showing a video of what happened at last year's ceremony...It just seemed incredibly immature to me. She could have just left it alone and plus, it would have been awesome for her to perform 'Mine' instead. I love the song so much and would have liked to hear it live.

Flyleaf – Circle Lyrics 13 years ago
The lyrics are clearly about Jesus, though done in a wonderful and artistic way. It's Lacey speaking about how though Jesus died for our Salvation, so many people have denied Him and not taken seriously what He did for us.

This song makes me cry not only because it's so beautiful musically and vocally, but because of the message. Kudos to Flyleaf for being so open and direct with their faith through music. I love that.

The Meg And Dia Band – Agree to Disagree Lyrics 13 years ago
The song title gives an obvious air of contradiction with flows throughout the song. It's basically about someone speaking about their most likely recent ex and saying that they no longer bother them, but they really do. Even so, they're relieved that it's all over, even though they might miss them and everything about where they are reminds them of their ex.

The Meg And Dia Band – Inside My Head Lyrics 13 years ago
From the first verse, I would have assumed that the girl thinks the boy is being rediculous, attempting to say he's poetic and so wonderful, when really he's sort of lame. But later on in the song, he seems just to be abusive, whether physically or mentally. The line that describes the burn on her hang (I'm think) is a metaphor to say that she and others are denying that the scars are really as terrible as they seem by saying it looks like something innocent like a rabbit.

Paramore – Turn It Off Lyrics 13 years ago
Because of what I've heard her say in interviews about this song, I'm going to surmise that it's about trying to keep believing in God even when it's really hard. It's also obviously about struggle throughout life in general, but it's mostly about how she's doubting things she used to know and the people who she used to look up to are changing and letting her down. I can completely relate to this song because many things I used to be so sure about when I was younger are completely different now that I'm older.

In the second part of the first verse, I also believe that she's thinking about how it would be to not believe that there is a God and to not have any Higher Being to rely on and instead just go with her gut feeling with everything instead. This is easy to understand seeing as, being a band, they haven't been able to go to church and such and things have changed so much for them that she's not exactly sure what to believe about God anymore. She'd like to know what it would be like to just be herself and not struggle with beliefs.

Jack's Mannequin – Doris Day (Don't Go) Lyrics 13 years ago
Once I read other people's comments about this song taking a jab at Something Corporate, I have a hunch as to what the song's about. It could be entirely wrong, but I just have a feeling that it could be true because it sort of makes sense.

In some interview in the past, Andrew said something to the effect of "I felt like Something Corporate was my wife, and Jack's Mannequin was my mistress." That's not word-for-word, but you get the idea. So, I'm thinking that the song isn't about an actual person at all, it's about his bands. He's making JM into the girl in the song, SoCo as the boyfriend, and himself, well, as himself. And again, I could be entirely wrong about it, but that's just my take on it, seeing as him writing the song post-marriage and about himself and another girl wouldn't make sense.

The Maine – Right Girl Lyrics 13 years ago
I'm surprised that there aren't more comments on this song. It's my absolute favorite from their new album. The song is basically out there in the open, not too hard to understand. I love how the lyrics sort of tell a story of how maybe he met the girl one night and then later on, they continued having a relationship but he never quite got over how once he lost her, he couldn't have her anymore. The third verse is the only one that I'm sort of questioning. Is it that the girl came back to marry the guy in the song or she married someone else and came back after she realized it wasn't right?

The Maine – Inside of You Lyrics 13 years ago
I don't think that this song, at its core, is completely sexual. There might be a few underlying messages that are, but mostly, it's about a guy who's getting a little older and wanting more than just a silly fling. He knows that whatever relationship this is won't be going anywhere unless things change, even though he's ready for something more, maybe the girl isn't. He wants to not be on the outside anymore (emotionally) like he has been in the past.

The Maine – Girls Do What They Want Lyrics 13 years ago
Though the song is pretty self-explanatory, I still feel like maybe some people are interpreting it slightly wrong. Instead of it being similar to 'The Way We Talk' in the sense that it's about a girl who's just being seductive for the heck of it, it's more like he's admitting that in the same way that what a guy does and says can be powerful to a girl, it's the same way to a boy. And maybe it's sort of admitting that girls have a lot of power with the little things that they do than they realize.

The Maine – Daisy Lyrics 13 years ago
Love this song so so so much. I think it's about a guy possibly falling for a best friend, who's a girl, who was sort of down on her luck. He was there for her and then she sort of 'blossomed' as time went on. Then, once she became happy and okay again, he realized that he liked her as more than a friend and realized he loved her all along. Could be wrong, but that's what it seems like to me.

The Maine – Life Like This Lyrics 13 years ago
I love this song so much. It shows a much more vulnerable side of John (because I'm assuming the lyrics are mainly from his point of view) than their other stuff. And the song is basically self-explanatory.

submissions
The Maine – The Way We Talk Lyrics 13 years ago
I've always believed that the song is basically about a guy talking about a girl who his friend is falling for. He's trying to warn the guy about how the girl is just trying to seduce him and doesn't want his friend to get hurt. He's telling the girl to give guys in general a break from being fooled around with for fun.

Something Corporate – I Won't Make You Lyrics 13 years ago
I absolutely love this song. It's one of my top favorites by SoCo. Like a lot of other people are saying, it's easy to see the lyrics in a sexual way and they might be to an degree, but it's more emotional and symbolic than that. He's saying that he misses and loves the girl so bad, but he isn't going to make her come back to him if she doesn't want to. It's so perfect.

This is why I love Something Corporate and Andrew's lyrics. He's a genius at getting the point across without ever seeming cliche or offensive. It also paints a picture in every song that I can see while I'm listening.

Hey Monday – I Don't Wanna Dance Lyrics 13 years ago
Finally, someone has posted the backing lyrics at the last chorus! I've been going crazy trying to figure out the exact wording. But, anyways.

This song is so insanely catchy and ironically, makes me want to dance the whole time. I've heard so many people say that they don't like how Hey Monday's music is more pop and whatnot now, but this song is pretty close to their old stuff and sounds so good. I could listen to it over and over.

As far as lyric interpretation goes, it's pretty easy to figure out - some guy turned out to be a complete tool to Cassadee and is trying to say that he's changed, but he's the very same as before and she wants someone different and better. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

Something Corporate – If You C Jordan Lyrics 13 years ago
It's not about him. It's about a guy who Andrew went to school with and got in a fight with over a girl on graduation day. For one thing, Jordan's hair has never been red and he's from Florida like the rest of NFG. And just because there's a reference to the band in a song doesn't mean anything secret or whatever. If this was true, it would have been known to all of SoCo's fans.

3OH!3 – Still Around Lyrics 13 years ago
Honestly, I don't see how this could possibly be seen as making fun of Jack's Mannequin. The lyrics nor the sound are even slightly close. Why is it so hard to believe that these guys could manage having a serious song for once?
