The Dillinger Escape Plan – Lurch Lyrics 18 years ago
Correct lyrics from lyric... sheet.

I don't know your name
From my window
Do you lust for fame or forgiveness?

Well I'll give you everything you want
Well I'll give you everything you need

You won't be perfect so best to freeze you in this state
Go on home
You shouldn't be walking around on this day

Now you've stuffed your throat
You've walked on your burial ground
Oh you'll draw the crowd
With honey porcelain skin and crystal baby blues
Your picture in my pocket I'm obsessed with you

Oh sweety there's no sense in crying
You're above them all
Barricade the door
You can hold my hand for comfort when you fall

You wear your skin so fresh
Your smell intoxicates
Little starlet

The Dillinger Escape Plan – Milk Lizard Lyrics 18 years ago
I should've had my pre-order by now... ordered the CD/shirt package three weeks ago and I still don't have the damn thing. Fuckin' postal service. And Relapse for not shipping it out until Monday.

That aside... the actual lyrics make me think this song was meant to be Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants part 2.

Nothing holds lies better
Than the bourgeiosie
The flavor to compete against
Your favorite enemy

Keeping up with the Joneses. A new fad pops up, and shazam, suburban American floods the scene.

The Blood Brothers – Laser Life Lyrics 19 years ago
These are the correct lyrics from the booklet. Enjoy.

Oh, Team Machine!
I'm a pound of flesh in a drum machine's dream.
We watch crabs and lobsters eat a dead cop's throat
And stuff our mouths with gutted stereos.

Oh, Team Machine!
Every single piano I've ever met in my life
Never sounded as good as melted Casio keys
Burning in a sea that sings out in 3-D.

Oh, that Laser Rain kept me up all night again
Scratching at the window like a bright colored beast,
Cursing at the dawn like an adulterous priest.

Shake your hands
(Like they're full of feathers!)
Shake your wings
(Like they're laced with sound!)
Shake your skin
(Like a scrambled TV!)
Gnash your teeth like a flamingo swarm.

I think my night unplugged its life.
Digital sunrise! Digital sunset!

Oh, Team Machine!
The world's got no end and it's got no beginning.
Now I'm coughing up maracas and tambourines,
Looking over cliffs of eternity.

Shake your hands
(Like they're full of disaster!)
Shake your wings
(Like they're painted with tar!)
Shake your skin
(Like it's sewn with insects!)
Gnash your teeth like an exploding car.

And if your night unplugs its life
Blame it on the Laser Rain.
And if your life unplugs its eyes
Blame it on the Laser Rain.

Because you can't blame the sun, it's been bought and sold
To a day that's never dawning.
And you can't blame the sky, it collapsed twelve times;
Now it's buried in a digital coffin.
So you climb out to your windowsill
As the drum machines laugh to themselves.

As for the meaning...

We rely on computers and technology to guide us through our daily lives. Americans in the 17th century, however, did not. Of course, they were religious lunatics who believed that Nebraska was a witch, but anyway...

The Receiving End Of Sirens – Broadcast Quality Lyrics 19 years ago
Does anyone else think of Martha Stewart when they hear this song?

...Maybe I'm a bit touched.

Sounds like the way people are judged on the quality of their outward appearances (which would explain the title, their "broadcast quality"). The guy doesn't feel like resisting and "lays his arms to rest." His "subordinate coordinates," or his true identity, has been lost thanks to the girl's deceptive "web."

Someone elaborate. I don't feel like typing any more.

The Bled – You Know Whose Seatbelt Lyrics 19 years ago
I don't even know why these lyrics are posted. These are the lyrics to Dale Earnhardt's Seatbelt. "You Know Who's Seatbelt" is the censored title for the CD case; it's Dale Earnhardt's Seatbelt in the lyrics book, sort of like "Stop the Car" and "Stop the Fuckin' Car" by Circa Survive. Same concept. It's all outward censorship, except this one tries to mask more of a chronological controversy than a universal one.

submissions
The Bled – Millionaires Lyrics 19 years ago
To me, it has two possible meanings: religion and money. Most likely money. The basic premise is that supreme dominion is, and always will be, in the hands of the rich: "This is ours to love and take apart at will."

"These woven webs conceal the blueprints from me" is James' lament of how things are changing solely to meet the expectations of the rich. Basically, that they've masked the original beauty ("blueprints") of things with "woven webs" and "wires."

"Sometimes we kill the lights/Pretend that we survived/We're never gonna die"
Dying here is probably metaphorical. When the current millionaires pass out of existence, there will always be more to take their place, and the cycle of corporate ruin will persist.

Phew. You can tell I'm bored.

The Bled – I Don't Keep With Liars Anymore Lyrics 19 years ago
I really can't believe there are no comments on this song.

"I Don't Keep With Liars Anymore." Sounds like someone's converting to Atheism/Agnosticism.

I'm pretty sure James is saying that religion is a lie. He seems to be mostly pissed at the fact that the churches are non-profit organizations (they don't have to pay taxes, but they make money from tithes) and/or hypocrites who only have "faith" to keep themselves comfortable and readily controllable. He also suggests that upon a close examination of the Bible, major contradictions and logical fallacies are evident (the "bloody sword" of religion, so to speak).

That's all I got from it. Maybe it's something to do with Adolf Bush. Someone else want to comment?

The Dillinger Escape Plan – Unretrofied Lyrics 19 years ago
Line-by-line interpre-transla-fantasti-splendi-meaning-gasm! Woohoo!

... Anyway...

Is the can half diseased or is the disease half canned
- Refers to the capricious nature of trends/fads.

Is the man half machine or is the machine half man
- Are we emotionless or just faking our emotions?

I'll just fake it in the end
- I don't want to think for myself; I'll just copy someone else.

Just save it for a new song and leave dead in the end
- I'll hide my true self until there is no "me" anymore. I live for the masses.

Time is wasted in the end
- I could have had all this time to be myself, but I chose to be someone else.

Wood paneled wagon carpool dragons killing me again
- I'll end up in a coffin and I'll be more dead than I was when I lost my identity.

Now they're looting our holes until there is nothing left
- My identity has been entirely compromised by fads.

Callous intentions it seems, coward's invention at best
- (People actually advocate these fads, meant to keep people under a subtle form of control, because the higher-ups are scared to think what might happen if people suddenly started thinking.)

We're all dead
- No one really owns their own personalities anymore.

Jesus can't play the music 'cause he's nailed to the cross
- (Because of Jesus' eventful death, many people gave their identity to God, making religion probably the most popular and lasting fad.)

And over gnawed off feet I find I can't walk
- My ability to think for myself has been completely destroyed, and I am now just a member of the American machine.

The Dillinger Escape Plan – Hollywood Squares Lyrics 19 years ago
OK, first of all, I have to say that whoever this keith guy is obviously has no taste for artful expression. Miss Machine is the best thing to come out of New Jersey's collective sphincter. Period.

Anyway, onto the meaning: anyone ever seen Wonder Showzen season one on MTV2? Episode 2 has a scene where Chauncey plays Paper-Rock-Scissors against God for the fate of the earth. That makes me think this song is about religion and the uselessness of prayer. God is the "lucky penny," "lion tamer," and "4-leaf contraceptive." Prayer is basically based on a fifty-fifty system of luck. No matter what superstition you choose, your prayers are going to be "answered" at about the same rate. Plus, prayer completely defies the so-called "divine plan." So really, prayer is "going nowhere."

If you want more information on this stuff, listen to "You Are All Diseased" by George Carlin. Funny guy.

The Dillinger Escape Plan – The Mullet Burden Lyrics 19 years ago
Wow... first comment in almost four years... fuck.

I saw TDEP last night at a tiny record store and they played this song in the middle of the set. As soon as the woman's scream played, the audience (there was only a miniature pit) were looking around like "Dude, WTF." Craziness.

As for the meaning... the title seems to be referring to being treated as a social exile (which is the burden of having a mullet, one must say). The song itself is about people who threaten suicide just for the attention. It basically says, "As long as long as you're going to say it, then do it. I want to see if you have the balls. Or the vagina. I don't know. You're just fucking yourself over either way."

There. I did it. You bunch of slackers.
