The Mullet Burden Lyrics

such worthless crust and crazed
now cringe to slap the wrist
i sense you cracked and weak
the nonexistent won't care when you fail to wake
i sense you cracked and weak
i wonder if you would
i would if you could
please just a small taste of the offer unrefused
bonded by a muddly crippled story
and now i wonder if you really ever could
you're no good
self sodomize once more
whore
slut
yet fragile and tight
a reckless mangled conscience with only the imbalance of evils
wait for guidance
end it all now

Wow... first comment in almost four years... fuck.

I saw TDEP last night at a tiny record store and they played this song in the middle of the set. As soon as the woman's scream played, the audience (there was only a miniature pit) were looking around like "Dude, WTF." Craziness.

As for the meaning... the title seems to be referring to being treated as a social exile (which is the burden of having a mullet, one must say). The song itself is about people who threaten suicide just for the attention. It basically says, "As long as long as you're going to say it, then do it. I want to see if you have the balls. Or the vagina. I don't know. You're just fucking yourself over either way."

There. I did it. You bunch of slackers.

i would have said it's about a heroin addict. ya know how before shooting up ya have to slap your veins to get the blood flowing. 'now cringe to slap the wrist' also the whole 'i wonder if you would, i would if you could' suggests to me it's about trying to quit and not being able to. 'please just a small taste of the offer unrefused' to me sounds like begging for one more hit when they would never need to beg because a dealer is only to happy to provide. 'the nonexistent won't care when you fail to wake', the friends they lost won't know or care when they overdose.

just my reading.
