There For Tomorrow – Remember When (Used to Be Used to It) Lyrics 14 years ago
i agree with signedbyfate, this is obviously a mother-son thing (that's how i perceive it), but i think it's not about meth, but abuse? (geez, idk why, but i keep finding all these songs about abuse... (*).(*) anyways, i think the book series (a trilogy) A Child Called 'It' would go excellently with the meaning of this song... plus its a great read and i seriously recommend them. bye for now!

yeah, Ruki seems to write about the hot topics, also the ones everyone wants to overlook and ignore because they're too scared. the thing about guys being raped by women is that there's no way around it- they're going to enjoy it physically, no matter how much it ruins them emotionally. so they feel guilty. i think Ruki is a very wise person to talk about the hard stuff, the subjects people actually need to hear about.

i think your interpretation is cool, but i think that the diamonds are lights that were blurred by tears (caused by all the let downs)... he never really says anything about stars fading.

i love how vic fuentes' voice is all nasally and high-pitched, and jonny craig's is all dark sounding with tin little cracks (not light the puberty cracks, the anguished and on purpose ones :) such an epic album. the musicality is off the charts. these guys have serious talent.

either way, stop trying to it each other over the head, those are both really lame insults... you people should stop pouring thick, stupid cement-esque lameness over this fantastic lyric. stop fighting and go listen to how great this song sounds. i think it's lies :)

Isles and Glaciers – Viola Lion Lyrics 14 years ago
it makes more sense to me that way, but it could also be lights. if it is 'lies,' then that adds a whole other type of complex denotation to the song. i think the reason that the narrator in the lyrics can see diamonds in the sky is because there are tears in his eyes. lights and stars dont shine very brightly unless they are blurry. so the 'i'm gonna wait until you want me' is like: she's been telling lies that she loves him and she's sleeping (literally asleep) in his bed and he'll remember her face, a smile, which could also be a lie because she's not really happy with him. the taking of a pic is just remembering very distinctly her smiling face. people make sounds when they cry, so "i saw her sleeping on, amazing i know" is like 'it's amazing she can still sleep right now.' it could have a double meaning, like 'i'm surprised she's at peace here' which makes more sense. i think it's lies too, even if lights follows the literal meaning of the song better, lies ties it together better. w/out lies, it's a jumbled mess of odd metaphors and imagery.

oh gosh you're right... then why did they name the song that? what the heck? this just confuses me more... every time i listen to chiodos or pierce the veil, i really have no clue what's actually going on in the songs' stories. combine the two, and you get pure lyric genius.

Never Shout Never – Seewhatweseas Lyrics 14 years ago
i don't think of this song as a drug reference, but it sounds like it could be a connection (like a relationship with someone, but not necessarily romantic). the feeling of the actual song reminds me of a sad and cloudy day, but he is singing about having fun. have you ever felt down, but thought something in your head that could help you think positive? this could account for the 'chemical swirls' in his head. essentially, feelings are just chemical signals; the swirls are mixes of what he is really feeling and what he is trying to make himself feel. he sings about pissy people just living life around him, so this song might have been a response to someone treating him rudely or snapping at him. he would have then felt down but tried to talk his way into happy, then bringing back the personal connection mentioned earlier. is this making any sense? sheesh my brain goes a million miles an hr sometimes xD oh well, i love this song.

yeah here is the poisoned youth mind saying: uh... i didn't think of drugs for this song, and that doesn't even make sense. i would not have even thought of this as a parallel to drugs until YOU mentioned it. aren't you the one trying to poison the youth's minds? i really like this song, it's relaxing to listen to, and in general, fun. like it says in the lyric, 'don't take life too seriously;' not everything this generation produces is trash and sex and drugs.

KoЯn – Daddy Lyrics 14 years ago
that man is disgusting. i feel like vomiting, and that's not an exaggeration. i hate all who destroy people's lives. sometimes murder is okay as long as it's 100% self defense, but rape is never okay. in fact, it's worse than murder. at least murder ends the victim's life (no matter how brutal), instead of shifting it into a living hell.

it would be a lot nicer to comment something like 'i don't like their music very much, but i hope they remain successful' and here would DEFINITELY not be the place to say something like that, not on this thread, but here you could have at least said you felt sorry for him or something. i don't know what would cause you to feel unsympathetic towards Davis, but whatever it is, please keep that to yourself, or you become just as cold as the sick woman who abused him in us fans'eyes.

i hate situations like this, no one should have a free conscience after abusing such a relationship of trust or ignoring their child so. it's time to face reality, people. no matter how disgusting or horrifying. because you know what? the poor victims had to face it so much worse than any of the others, especially when the people like your friend's mom deny it.
i sincerely hope your friend is doing better, i can see how this could be very traumatizing and destructive.
i believe the difficult things are, when faced head-on, the things that make us stronger as ourselves through the pain.

Gazette – Burial Applicant (english) Lyrics 14 years ago
something that sticks out to me:
"Hello my dear, kill me gently.
A burned body doesn't leave you."

i think it means that the gentle killing is with words, as you cant get rid of a actual dead body without someone finding out about it. so the physically hurt body you cannot get rid of, but you can easily bring someone down with words. even though words are sometimes much more painful than actual death.

it could also mean that you should kill them humanely because the image of a mutilated body will be forever burned into one's retinas, especially if they caused it.

Gazette – LEECH [English Translation] Lyrics 14 years ago
i love this song so much. anyway, heres what u think it means:

we all know ruki's past, right? he was beaten by his parents when he misbehaved, and he had no friends. so... in light of that, there are a few lines here that stick out to me (well really the whole meaning of the song kind of is tied together by these lines, and they are practically the whole song).

in the beginning of the song, the female vocal says "nobody believes you" over and over. i think she is talking to ruki, as she speaks to the subject of the songs the female vocal part is used inand is applicable in, and as ruki is the subject of the song. this could mean several things but i think it means nobody believes him that his family is dysfunct because they want to look like the perfect family.
"A pain like I have been beaten up won't release me" - obviously a reference to the beatings he gets but released from what? in context of what i believe the song to be, released from the
"Imperfection [that] peeked through in large quantity." obviously, if he is being so imperfect compared to what thunder mother and thunder father (anybody get the reference? ;) want him to be, he's going to be punished, but the punishment is unjust because his imperfections are out of his control. for example, "With my sad look the beautiful silence is wavering, even closing my eyes is a sin" could mean that the closing of his eyes is actually crying that could break the beautiful (perfect) silence. when people cry, their voice wavers, and it would have the same effect on the silence, like the silence is gone. i have heard many cases of children being beaten for crying because it is considered 'weak,' as is possible here."Can you hear the counting song of pain, baby?" would probably be more crying, or some other emotional noise like screaming.
"The president." not like the actual head of state, but a president like the head of some corporation. it might be his dad or mom, someone in the most control over him. it is heard as "baby" in the song, so that could mean the person who is in control has a close/ familial relationship with ruki. it could also mean that a person would promise one thing, illicits an expectation from someone (in this case its the readers of the lyric) but says or does another thing. the expectation could be of his parents as he misbehaves, or it could be his parents betting on disrespect or something from him but he shows affection. its prolly the latter as the line thats expected is anarchist but the line he says is affectionate. if so, the line he says becomes a lie to make things seem perfect, or why would a kid really be tangibly affectionate to his abusers?
"[I want to scatter your face.]" more talking to ruki, as it is the female vocal. obviously beating.
"The answer reflected in your eyes vanishes," the answer being to the question asked earlier in lyrics, the one about the counting song. the hearing of some auditory sign of pain would trigger some sort of sympathy or compassion in a normal human, and that is reflected in eyes. but since it vanishes, the person abusing him does not have compassion or understanding for him.
"Washed away faults and expressionlessness and powerlessness" only reinstates the beatings that try to wash away imperfection. expressionlessness is the person beating ruki, and the powerlessness is ruki here, as he has no effect on the person beating him, he is just a subordinate to the president.
"Even if time is longing for oblivion I won't forget"
"You are the same as a leech which sucks blood to live." is a continuation of the last line, it seems they work together. ruki would not just be not forgetting the oblivion but also the fact that his parents are parasitic, beating him and harming him for self-satisfaction/ selfishness. this could mean that the oblivion (meaning ignorance or being unknowlegeable of a subject) to his own pain is wanted over time as the beatings' psychological effect on him worsens over time.
"[I want to scatter your trick] [I want to scatter your excuse.]" being the parents talking about getting rid of his mischievous ways and that his excuses for being imperfect are very frail and dont account for anything- they can be thinned out and splayed in their weakness.
"Burying the black day in meaningless" could be either ruki or his trying to hide the black day (imperfections) in meaningless and shallow external looks or perceptions from the outside of their family unit.
"I felt humiliation." no one can hide imperfection perfectly, so maybe every once in a while ruki was reprimanded in front of people (it probably did not lead to beating in public) and felt he would be humiliated. it could also mean that his parents judged him, and when one is being judged for their innermost imperfect qualities then it will mean humiliation. the latter of the two scenarios is probably most likely.
"Don't hush up a mistake. Take responsibility." is obviously 'dont try to erase my problems, understand that its your fault i keep messing up because you raised me in a wavering ideal.' parents that want to look perfect try to hide that they are not raising the kid right, and not telling him/her what is right or wrong before beating. a good parent will warn before punishment, which should happen when the earning is disregarded.
"Expression swallowed in perfection" would be ruki's parents' expressions of compassion or love completely devoured by the want of perfection in which they also try to wipe away ruki's mischievous/incorrect expression. his expression could also be pain, as it is later stated that crying is a sin, and any pain in the outside world, or an expression that could be easily deciphered by someone cannot happen because then he might tell someone and it would ruin his family's rep. this could be why he believed he had no close friends, a real friend knows all your struggles and problems but he couldnt tell anyone about those, so therefore, no close friends.
"I who sings black again. I who dyes black again." the black day mentioned later in the lyric is prolly connected with this. the black is prolly imperfection, and his actions such as singing his sad weepy counting song of pain or tainting his family's rep would be imperfect and incorrect.
"Insult that smashed my head many times" would be something not tangible or physical like an actual beating but some emotional abuse that stuck in his head and made him feel like crap all the time. since the black day imperfections were buried in meaningless, these actions would also be hidden.

that is all! i hope i helped to think of things in a new light or clear some definitions for you!

i saw one of those lives... it was so heart and gut and mind wrenching. its like, we cant even begin to comprehend the specific pain that he feels even though we have our own. i cant think of a single other person who has experienced all he has and goes up for lives and practically cuts his heart out. everyone can relate to how they dont wanna trust anyone. for me, i think hes trying to to say either the hypocrites killed him as his heart betrayed him or his heart IS the hypocrites. its easy to understand but so hard to comprehend...

Dir En Grey – Gaika, Chinmoku ga Nemuru Koro (English) Lyrics 14 years ago
one line sticks out to me. "If there're no doubts and nothing to lose, to the freedom of being born..."

i think this means that if there was nothing wrong on the world then everyone could be born free. but there are certain awful conditions that they were born into, it could be abything wrong at all, and it wouldn't be their fault. but there are people out there who make it seem its their fault, like with "Auschwitz going crazy" its killing people born as a jew. and, for the people who think its about abortion, it could be the mother makes the baby think that the un-wanting of it was its fault.

as for "salute the monkey" its either 'your leader is an idiot' or 'praise the monkey which is the closest species to human but is still so much freer.' could be both.

three times sex is mentioned- with death, a humanoid, and god. im sure all three are pretty dangerous and would prolly produce something abnormal as a child... say... a rejected and horribly disfigured kid, or the savior, or a half-robot. you think any of these would be accepted into society? NO WAY MAN.

Dir En Grey – Conceived Sorrow (English) Lyrics 14 years ago
everyone can relate to this song because of the general gut-wrenching pain that the actual musicality conveys, plus when you add the lyrics, its like T@T... you dont have to know every single freaking song to enjoy DEG, and you can never fully understand Kyo as a human being no matter how many of their stuff you buy/use/see. you would have to be him to fully understand. i believe this is just about the nicest way that one can respond to Keiko:Love. the beauty of a lyric is that people have different viewpoints when they look at it and will interpret it in a certain way and automatically relate to it. maybe you feel like you're the only one who can truly relate to it cuz ur all alone in ur misery? well you see it just as everyone else, prolly, and its because of such a wholesome loose interpretablity that is also a certain type of art form specially designed by Kyo.
i love this song. its so sad it makes me wanna puke. like, my guts are gonna fall out they're being so convoluted.

i think the "proof of sadness caused by absolute justice" can be rephrased as "the physical (or something tangible) manifestation of the grief/guilt that the technical aspects and absolute rules with no regard for ethics had created. so it would be like, he had his purpose stolen away as he was punished for something that he couldn't have gotten out of any other way. he believes he deserves the punishment, or he takes the blame for it and that "no one can save [him]" from the punishment he inflicted upon himself. i guess the punishment part is the tangible manifestation of the sadness, and it might even be self-inflicted (this scenario of self-infliction just seems to work better, as he could have been the one to possess the very strong ethic system). maybe the "burning from the inside" is the burning and self-mutilating punishment he inwardly inflicts. i believe you are right, but because of that one line, it adds so much to the meaning, which is why i believe kyo wrote it in such an obscure way. or it was translated funny. i hope i helped.

Dir En Grey – Spilled Milk (English) Lyrics 14 years ago
okay, so the expression is "no use crying over spilled milk." thus, the title should represent something in the past that the 'narrator' (per se) cannot take back and thusly there is no point in fretting and worrying over it. but, who says that they aren't stressing over it? it is simply called spilled milk as in the thing to be guilty over. This phrase can be traced back all the way to James Howell, a British historian and writer from 1659. The phrase appeared in one of his litary works, Paramoigraphy (ya das rite, did my research~ copied from 'know your phrase' or something like that). in 1659 people would have been still milking cows, not that we've stopped, its just they prolly wouldn't have been able to have gotten it in a gallon bottle (etc) like we can today. so... people went out and actually milked the cows, and the milk was either sold at markets or used to feed the family. either way, if you spilled it during this time period (when the idiom came from), your sadness would be more guilty than... sad. so there is the background of the title to give you a sense of what the song could mean.

i might do further analysis of stanza structure and POV later on.

Dir En Grey – Jesus Christ R 'n R (English) Lyrics 14 years ago
i believe this song is about how people feel pain and go to God. i am a christian, maybe im biased. this song, according to my interpretation, uses kyos out look on life and his curiosity towards going to God for help.
"I will communicate with love" - how christians act and how he might want to act
"I will kill with emotion" - if he is talking about a figurative killing
"From that very day I was able to laugh freely" maybe killing people got a paranoia or guilt off his back
"Do you think that was a long time ago? I thought" - the memories came back to haunt him

this paragraph could mean that he acted towards people with love, even if those people persecuted him, threatened, or tortured him. the killing with emotion would then mean that it was a vengeance/get rid of fear act, and would get the persecution off of his back. getting rid of his paranoia would allow him to be happy and have a real laff. the real-life killing with emotion is using his emotions to make people feel horrible to make them leave him alone, or using anger to scare them off. this sitch would be from his distant past, and he feels guilty about it now? idk, its AN interpretation.

"The threatening world pressuring in?
Meaning that world would be outside of the cage?
Eventually I will get used to it, but when will this scar disappear?"

this reinforces my thoughts, as the people he tried to be kind to were threatening and they caged him in his own fear- with the real world on the outside? no! hes saying that the real world was everywhere, in and out of the cage of fear. he'll get used to the fear and threats, but it will leave a guilty scar that he would have formed from his 'long-gone' memories that can never go away.

"You must be happy with logics and contradictions"
he is prolly talking about the atheists and agnostics who deny the existence of someone to help with the cage of fear, pain, or whatever traps you.

"When unhappiness creeps in
The meaning of that doesn't change
Am I laughing well in your world?"

again with the laffing. he is saying that the unhappiness is inside him and will never go away no matter what, and he is externally laffing, as in the physical world which is the logical world of the agnostic or atheist, or the people who torment him. it is more likely as the world of the agnostic/atheist as they live in the logical world, the external world, the real one in which he externally laffs. no matter how much pain he allowed to creep in from the world he lived in, the cage of fear.

"Who is more tragic?
You are probably more serious"

not sure about this one, he could be comparing himself to atheists/agnostics, to his torturers, or jesus to one of the two or both. he and jesus would be the more tragic, as jesus died for those whom he loved tho they tortured him, just as kyo can empathize (sympathize) with that.the serious would be the cold, collected, logical. or it could be serious like a 'serious,' severe, grave illness or prevalent problem that the torturers represent.

"I'll probably be able to laugh more when I am torn and hurt"
he'll laff more in their world to hide his pain, guilt, fear, whatever it is. its like, the amount of pretending he'll do is directly proportional to how much pain he's feeling.

"Let's go out into the city with a bat
Come and play with me more"
prolly the people who put him in his cage repeatedly humiliate him in public, and look at it as fun.

"Do it now. God bless me! Bless you!
I cry from pain"
he wants to get whatever the worst is (direct infliction, and in its moment) over with, and still wants to show love to those who hurt him, as the self-sacrifice jesus showed.

"False accusations kill me"
prolly the threats and torment kyo experiences were for reasons incorrectly and unjustly assumed by the people who torment him, just as jesus was crucified for false accusations. i think this is a more direct lyric to jesus, with kyos life being the metaphor this time.

"Cries of grief will lead you to Jesus"
ominous communication

you can pray to God with your cries of pain, guilt, etc cuz he is listening. it is "ominous communication" because God is an omnipotent being who can do anything he wants and is prolly a bit scary to a non-believer. or the communication in itself is ominous (prolly more likely) cuz it is threatening- if u were to hide behind a mask of laffing ur whole life, wouldn't opening up be difficult and scary?

"Bound together firmly
With no way out... "
in these final lines, kyo could be grouping these things all in one, as they go with eachother:

bound to the pain because it is a cage
bound to the tormentors because they possess you and keep you in that cage
bound to god becuz he is always there and always with you, providing strength

"with no way out it is shaved off"
what is shaved off? it is most likely his trust in everyday people cuz of his connection with God and the realization that no one can ever provide that same trust.

i hope u guys like this interpretation, i worked really hard
