| Brand New – Coca-Cola Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i think it might be bless your beautiful 'life' not 'hide' i think it makes sense in context "Bless your beautiful life And curse your god when your friends die" like you're thankful and religious and all that when everything's fine but if something goes wrong you immediately blame god you know? |

| La Dispute – Future Wars Lyrics | 13 years ago |
ok well i don't think it's about rape i think it's about a couple who (i believe this has been mentioned already) became physical and it kinda sounds like the girl was sort of unwilling but they carried on and it turned into a long distance sort of thing, something was keeping them apart and to me i feel like he cheated on her while he was away he was a thief because he took her virginity he was a whore because he stepped out on her either that, or it was the girl who cheated on him i'm not really sure where i stand on this thought really, since the vulture is the one calling him pathetic and a whore but when i look at the lyrics and it says he hallowed every memory of them and how she smiled and put herself back together (ie moved on from him) it could be saying he's a thief and a whore both for taking her virginity but the vulture said he's pathetic and that it's embarrassed for him and that could be because she moved on from him and slept with someone else which makes him quite pitiable sometimes when i listen to it i feel like it's the man's "fault" their relationship failed, but other times i have to blame it on the girl also can someone fix these lyrics? it's hard to read the lyrics straight up and the interpretation can just be put with everyone else's in the comments so it's easier to understand :) |

| Issues – Princeton Ave Lyrics | 13 years ago |
ah! tyler posted the meaning on his tumblr today. all week he's posting a breakdown of each song's meaning on the ep. "Princeton Avenue is the story of a boy who was born and raised in College Park, Atlanta. In the projects of a street called Princeton Avenue in a government home, this kid was brought up by a disturbed mother and an abusive, alcoholic father. Being corrupted by his father’s ways, he was only taught that his life would be nothing but a terrifying storm. He grows up to become one with the storm of his father, and he leaves home and lives a life of drugs and depression. Now an older angry man, sleeping with whore after whore and passing out in hotel rooms, he ends up getting a woman pregnant. The daughter he has is left with him and this makes things worse. He raises his daughter the same way he was raised, in the storm. Angry and abusive the junkie hits rock bottom. At that point in time he finally comes to terms with his ways and decides that its time to make a change for his daughters sake. Is it too late? Because he’s given her hell for 15 years she’s already grown custom to his ways, she followed his footsteps and now she’s pregnant with God knows who’s child. The father can’t handle another mouth to feed… and the storm has returned. He goes downhill now, just like his father. He will never escape the storm. The point of this song is to shed light on the fact that each generation being corrupted is becoming a never ending cycle. Cease production of a destructive breed, seek help cause your pride only makes you weak. Make a change now, or it will just continue. Princeton Ave - Black Diamonds EP - ISSUES <3 TC" |

| Brand New – Jaws Theme Swimming Lyrics | 13 years ago |
hm maybe this is irrelevant to the song/already discussed/obvious/whatever else but i really enjoy the part of the chorus that goes, "And you take cause they give. Though I love you and my body it leaks like a sieve." to me it sounds like he's saying this person 'takes' from everyone else since so many people are 'giving' to them, but he's here giving them everything in him ('leaking like a sieve') because he loves them, but they're still taking from everyone else instead |

official lyrics from the video: Mayday, situation overload I'm restless, obsessed with your future And all my worries they don't bother you Collected, you render me useless But I carry on Right now, I think that you think that I'm Half-drunk, searching for something of Substance, casually dropping in a line designed To keep you next to me I can't awkwardly craft in advance I know that you wouldn't fall for that You say, "Shut up and take my hand" And we carry on I don't want to say good night The city comes alive when we're together Why can't Thursday last forever? I don't want to say good night I've never been so sure Just do it for the memories Do it for Baltimore And do it for me Hot damn, look at me now I'm all caught up riding the high of my Good luck, casually dropping a line designed To keep you next to me I bet you never thought you would fall again So much for keeping this just friends "Shut up and kiss me now" And we carry on I don't want to say good night The city comes alive when we're together Why can't Thursday last forever? | The Maine – When I'm at Home Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i think it's worth mentioning that one part where john is talking/screaming what sounds like gibberish, if you play the song backwards and skip about 2 minutes in when his talking starts, you can hear what he's saying, and it's basically a diss at the record company trying to control the way they do things and write their music "if this record does not make the cut, go fuck yourselves. this record is not for ourselves. we can do anything we want. this record is not for you" the backmasking just makes me love this song a million times more than i did already, which i didn't think was possible :) oh also, the right lyrics for the chorus are "230 paces to my place" but everything else looks goo! |

| Circa Survive – Phantasmagoria Lyrics | 13 years ago |
phan·tas·ma·go·ri·a   [fan-taz-muh-gawr-ee-uh, -gohr-] noun 1. a shifting series of phantasms, illusions, or deceptive appearances, as in a dream or as created by the imagination. i know that song titles don't always have to necessarily relate to the meaning of a song but since this song is pretty straight forward i believe the title ties in as it's saying that god is just a figment of people's imagination and that we as people have to figure out a way to live and take care of ourselves because there isn't some higher being looking out for us that's going to save us from everything he was raised up to believe in god but after so much heart ache and a look at the world around us he figured no benevolent god could just sit there and watch his creations suffer without intervening if he truly existed i personally am a christian who is very sound in my beliefs but i feel a weird relation to this song, i'm sure we've all been there before lyrically and musically this is definitely one of my favorites on violent waves such a solid album |
| Circa Survive – The Greatest Lie Lyrics | 13 years ago |
everyone says this song is about religion but i still feel like it's just about love in general. about not believing in love, after having a bad relationship. the 'greatest lie,' the lie your father told you, is the idea of true love. "Desire, I would try it either way" "We believe in something invisible" aka love "We laugh in the face of love cause nobody's really there" that's just like further talking about shitty relationships come on |
| Circa Survive – Blood from a Stone Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| it feels like the person he cared about is depressed to me. when he says bring them back to "life" it doesn't seem like he means literally bring them back from the dead. but you know how it goes with depression, so i think that's what he means. "it's impossible to know what you need when you seem so emotionless" really gives off that vibe as well. maybe that's just me but it's what i take from this song, could also be about someone addicted to drugs so they are like really far gone and all, but i feel more like the whole dead inside via depression seems a better fit | |
| Now, Now Every Children – Headlights Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| this kinda sounds like someone getting hit and dying in a car accident | |
| Now, Now Every Children – Giants Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i know this is only a half formulated thought but to play with the religious beliefs idea maybe this song is one person of a relationship talking about the other a liar specifically they lie about their beliefs?? maybe to themselves or their parents/community to be more accepted "you were only half willing to follow the son" saying the person is hesitant to follow their religion "but if we’re so different then why did we start this?" the one saying this isn't religious so they're rhetorically asking why they started this if they really were as different as they claimed to be in their views "you’ve been alone and you’re singing to the sun cause you know you’re on your own" the person deep down thinks that god doesn't exist though of course like i said they lied? about it maybe or just lying in general like "your framework doesn’t hold against the feet of us giants" could be a way of saying they see through this person's lies and like the lies won't work on them because they see past the bull shit and the last part of the lyrics could fit that too idk it's a long shot but it's just an idea to work with i felt like i had something then i just kinda lost it, i wish i knew what this song really meant |
| Now, Now Every Children – But I Do Lyrics | 13 years ago |
yes most definitely agree with both above comments the last part of the lyrics "I am what you need when you can't find it somewhere else. I am what you want when you don't want anything else." is saying that the other person in the relationship isn't interested in them until they can't find anyone else so they keep taking them back and ultimately fucking with their heart, you know |

obliviate is a spell in harry potter used to erase someone's memory. love that reference :) tbh i think this is one of their better songs, simple but has a very catchy chorus miss doriano's vocals but they seem to be doing good, i really hope they can get funded to record their second album (http://www.indiegogo.com/thatsoutrageous for anyone reading that wants to help!!) rise is really gonna regret dropping them :---)) |

| Of Mice & Men – Still YDG'N Lyrics | 13 years ago |
“This song is so extremely self-explanatory, it’s ridiculous. When in the studio, I was swamped with writing, and asked Alan if he wanted to work on lyrics for this one. All except for maybe a sentence or so were solely his own. It’s one of my favorite tracks on the record. The song talks about clearly knowing someone is doing you wrong, and you are simply over it. You’re not going to waste any more time, heart or air on them, because they have cheated you more than once and you have had enough. Someone can only apologize so many times, before their actions cry out louder than any of their words. This song is dedicated to anyone who has ever had someone rip the very ground out from below their feet, leaving them with nothing. Stay planted; everything works out in the end and works out for a reason.” -Austin Carlile |

| Bring Me the Horizon – Memorial Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| i dont think it has anything to do with curtis its just a song on its own, it fits in with the whole theme of the album nicely | |
| Lydia – Sleep Well Lyrics | 13 years ago |
another point to make when it says "Those states made me distant" could mean literal states as in travelling, he went off on tour and such and the distance wasnt easy on them, she possibly got with other guys when he was away and when he was around she acted like she was completely in love with him and nothing ever happened or maybe when he found out and confronted her she just said "It was just a god damn mistake" but then it kept happening just a thought |
| Lydia – Hospital Lyrics | 13 years ago |
it could mean something completely different to everyone else but to me this is about someone troubled who attempted suicide but just ended up in the hospital. things obviously cant be the same as it was before something like that happened but they still love this other person very much and dont want them to leave them. and when they say they'll never leave the hospital they dont mean that theyll physically never leave because they will check out in time but that mentally/emotionally theyre never going to feel better, but they still love this other person and want to stay with them i like thinking about this song that way because this meaning is very personal to me. its probably not what the song means but its the meaning to me and i love it. this is a beautiful song |
| Asking Alexandria – I Used to Have a Best Friend (But Then He Gave Me an STD) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| ok except when they say 'if you cant ride two horses at once you should get out of the circus' they arent literally addressing horse riders it means more than that and i know the title doesnt always have to relate to the lyrics but they typically do in some way so i would agree that the girl slept with his best friend the lyrics are pretty vague anyways you can just tell its a failed relationship due to the actions of the girl so itd make sense as far as the title relating to the song | |
| Brighten – Pelican Park Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| its sound like a place really important to him, probably around where he grew up which is why he'd see his family there. he wants to go back to that special place. or perhaps he means he wants to go back to those times, like he's reminiscing about great memories, and he wants to return to the park where he enjoyed so many times in his life. | |
| Brighten – Pelican Park Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| this song makes me incredibly sad every time i listen to it, but it's so beautiful | |
| La Dispute – Said the King To the River Lyrics | 13 years ago |
definitely agree its about the princess and the cowherd the princess fell in love with the cowherd across the river and the her father the king would flood the river to keep them apart fits in perfectly with the lyrics and the album title |
| La Dispute – I See Everything Lyrics | 13 years ago |
the boy suffered terribly and still the was able to go peacefully. yet he (the narrator in this song) cant seem to find faith or live comfortably, and he hasnt even had to deal with anything like cancer. he'll never forget his teacher and her son being able to hold such steadfast faith in the face of death when he can't even do it in daily life with his own struggles. |
| La Dispute – Damaged Goods Lyrics | 13 years ago |
he was with a girl and the girl left him because she felt he was too scared to let her in but then he says that he wasnt scared to be with her, he just couldnt be with her because he was still in love with someone else she was wrong |

| That's Outrageous! – Headshot At The Ballet Recital Lyrics | 13 years ago |

| Hands Like Houses – Watchmaker Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| oh also!! in matty's part i think it's "if only i could pause and breathe" everything else looks good though :) | |
| Hands Like Houses – Watchmaker Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"This song is the heaviest on Ground Dweller. We really enjoyed the challenge of making a “brutal” song fit with the rest of the album, while using sampled instruments and rhythmic vocals. It’s about making time for the people that mean the most to you–“undiscovered hours to keep you in.” I love the image of clock making; it’s becoming a lost art in a digital world, and lost arts are always a tragedy. Time is something that is always moving, always changing, and living the life we do, it’s always taking you away from a “normal” life." - http://handslikehouses.tumblr.com/post/19325753101/song-meanings-via-altpress-com another personal favorite the guest vocals from matty mullins of memphis may fire are flawless and it's definitely a solid 'brutal' track as trenton said the breakdowns are probably sick live, i'd love to hear this song performed :)) |
| Hands Like Houses – This Aint No Place For Animals Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"This was the first song we released from Ground Dweller, back in 2010. It’s about the way people interact, with all our brokenness in between. People fight, people collide and you try and figure out what is wrong–with you or with the world around you. It’s one of the heavier songs on the album, and one of our favourites to play live." http://handslikehouses.tumblr.com/post/19325753101/song-meanings-via-altpress-com |
| Hands Like Houses – The Definition of Not-Leaving Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"“Not Leaving” is my favourite. It’s about love, how it’s sometimes selfish but in the end it’s the being with someone who means the world to you and not letting go that counts. Stand still and let it warm you, fill you and become a part of you. It’s a dreamy, passionate electronic track with lots of electric pianos, organs, grand reverbs and layers of sound." - http://handslikehouses.tumblr.com/post/19325753101/song-meanings-via-altpress-com definitely my favorite track off ground dweller love the reference to where the wild things are expecting great things from these guys |
| Hands Like Houses – The Sower Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"“The Sower” is about the responsibility that comes with being in love with someone–you’re accountable for two hearts, two minds and two people’s happiness. Music takes you away from home for long periods of time so it’s a lot to take on and something you can never take for granted. You become a part of someone else and it’s the most amazing thing in the world, but it doesn’t come easily. Musically this song was actually completed as an acoustic track before it became full band and I really like the way that influenced the flow of the song." http://handslikehouses.tumblr.com/post/19325753101/song-meanings-via-altpress-com |
| Hands Like Houses – Starving To Death In The Belly Of A Whale Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"We all say things we wish we could take back, and this song is a retrospective look at the damage we do when saying things out of anger–both to ourselves and the people we care about. It’s short, sweet and loud–the flowing, fast and hyper-intense drums are the standout of this track." http://handslikehouses.tumblr.com/post/19325753101/song-meanings-via-altpress-com |
| Hands Like Houses – Spineless Crow Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"“Spineless Crow” explores building and breaking relationships, becoming jaded and the mixed up feelings that sometimes come with love. It’s probably the most experimental and erratic song on the album, but then again that supports the theme in the lyrics. There are big orchestral parts and lots of contrast." http://handslikehouses.tumblr.com/post/19325753101/song-meanings-via-altpress-com |
| Hands Like Houses – One Hundred Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"Definitely the oldest song on the album; we wrote this about four years ago and I think it shows. We included it as a throwback to people that have been with us since we formed. It’s about the thrill of falling in love with someone and the excitement of not knowing where it might go." http://handslikehouses.tumblr.com/post/19325753101/song-meanings-via-altpress-com |
| Hands Like Houses – Lion Skin Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"“Lion Skin” is about the place between awake and asleep when something is heavy on your mind, and your dreams and imaginations are at their most vivid and you wander, half-asleep and half-awake. I guess it’s more about the image and emotion than the story–that’s how I prefer to write. I think this will be one of our enduring favourites, it’s big, it’s grand, it flows and it’s fun to play live. It’s going to stay with us for a very long time, I feel." http://handslikehouses.tumblr.com/post/19325753101/song-meanings-via-altpress-com |
| Hands Like Houses – Don't Look Now, I'm Being Followed. Act Normal Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"“Act Normal” is about finding yourself somewhere you’ve never been before, physically or emotionally. Plenty of times I’ve found myself unsure what to do next. This song’s taken on more meaning as the band has pushed further and further past what we ever really expected to do." http://handslikehouses.tumblr.com/post/19325753101/song-meanings-via-altpress-com |
| Hands Like Houses – Antarctica Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"This song is about growing up–being taught to stay grounded while reaching for your dreams, so that you’re stronger and able to keep pushing for them even when you’re knocked down. Musically it was the first song in which we really started to experiment with vibraphones and more “traditional” instrument sounds mixed in with the synths and electronic drums we’d been using prior." taken from their tumblr http://handslikehouses.tumblr.com/post/19325753101/song-meanings-via-altpress-com |
| Hands Like Houses – A Clown and His Pipe Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"This song is about expressing yourself under pressure, when you can’t find the right words to say what you want, how you want and when you need to. “Clown” is all about the vocals, layered harmonies, call and response parts and group vocals, but the music is a great mix of heavy, dirty and open space." taken from their tumblr http://handslikehouses.tumblr.com/post/19325753101/song-meanings-via-altpress-com |

| Abandon All Ships – Brendon's Song Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| well the right lyric is actually "in the beginning i used to believe that you were NO savior but i was naive" so to me the song is about finding god not fluctuating between needing him and ignoring him | |
| Circa Survive – Glass Arrows Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| i agree i think it's about being abandoned by a loved one i think that the "Disappeared from public places never seen again" part until the end is talking about the person just walking out of his life and then the first part especially "Your stolen memories will find you in the last place you would think to look. All the time that it took to locate, maybe it’ll just pass by you or rip right through your heart" is about how much it's hurt him but the person that left him feels no remorse for abandoning him and they're doing fine but he thinks surely he meant something to them to the point where one day they're gonna regret leaving him and feel terrible for not being there when he needed them | |
