Well, I have a completely different interpretation. I used to believe it was a meeting-someone-for-the-first-time-and-liking-them-and-wanting-to-get-to-know-them storyline as well, but now I have a slightly different one. All I knew this morning when I woke Is I know something now, know something now I didn't before And all I've seen since 18 hours ago is green eyes and freckles and your smile in the back of my mind making me feel right --> when you wake up one morning and find out about a loved one's passing, you know something you didn't know before. You spend most of your time, most of your hours, looking at their photos and their videos just to feel close to them. In my case, the person DID have green eyes and freckles, so this part really is special to me. When you're looking at their pictures and it's the middle of the night and you can barely see through your tears, you whisper to them, as if they can hear you, "I just want to know you better...." This is what I went through, so this part, as well, holds true to me. This song is incredible!!!! How are there no comments on this?? To put it short, I believe this song is mainly about living in the moment and not taking anything for granted. I think it's an incredibly sweet song with a great message. Country radio should play it more often, sheesh! |

Honestly, I never really understood this song. For all these years I just simply couldn't understand what the great deal about it was. But I'd recently lost a friend and it really messed me up. I happened to be watching The Beatles tribute on TV one night and I think they performed this song. When I heard them sing it as I was thinking of my friend, everything clicked in my head. Suddenly in that moment, this song made PERFECT sense to me. When we lose someone, often we find ourselves constantly asking "why?" and trying to understand all the reasons for their death. When I find myself falling into this abyss, I go and put on this song and it brings me peace. It just brings me peace. It tells me "let it be.... there will be an answer....but don't worry about it, just let it be the way it is. Leave it." |

| I think this song is wonderful. There's a common thread throughout the lyrics; it's trying to say that we all have our demons/our vices/things that we don't want others to see. I think the video definitely shines a light on what this song might truly be about. It can be about an eating disorder/mental illness, about someone's fears, addiction, instability, etc. | |

when I watch the video, tears start rolling down my face when Carrie walks in the hospital to see that old man in bed. That part always hits me the most... When I went back home to visit my grandma a year before she actually past away, we were having a goodbye party for my mom and I, we were leaving that night. My grandma had parkinsons and alzeihmers, when it was time to say goodbye to my family, I went to say goodbye to my grandma and there she was, lying in bed, fast asleep. I wanted to say goodbye to her, but I didnt want to wake her up. I gave her a hug and kissed her on the cheek and said, 'Bye, Na, I love you' I never knew that those would be the last words I'd say to her, but they were.....she past away a year right after we left. |

I don't think this song has to be about a breakup, actually. It's like this song speaks to me. Here's what meaning the song is to me: One foot on the bus about half past nine I knew that you were leaving this time I thought about laying down in its path Thinking that you might get off for that A long lost friend that you wish you could have back is moving. You knew her since you guys were kids, but she changed and drifted away from you. You wish you could somehow stop her from leaving... maybe 'laying down in the path of the bus, thinking she might get off for that...' I remember that night we laid in bed Naming all our kids that we hadn't had yet One for your grandma and one for mine Said we'd draw straws when it came time As best friends you'd lay in bed and just chat like the best of friends you two are. Talk about the future and the type of guys you'd want to marry, you'd talk about what names you'd name your kids. The chorus to me says, 'I'll move on just like you did, and hopefully someday I'll forget you and forget all that happened, maybe I'll find someone better.. maybe not... but someday I'll stop loving you, just not right now.
