Tyler, the Creator – Blow Lyrics 14 years ago
I agree with fable, but I've also seen it was "Favor of some sort," which also makes sense.

This song is wild.

Arctic Monkeys – Balaclava Lyrics 14 years ago
I think the song compares having a fling/leading a girl on to a getaway crime.

The last line, I think, is

"Sorry Sweetheart, I'm the driver, keep on the balaclava."

A reference to how in a getaway crime, the criminals might hide their identities from each other to avoid incrimination should they be caught. It is a warning to her about becoming too close.

Miniature Tigers – Egyptian Robe Lyrics 15 years ago
This song seems so rakish. It's about that satiation of desires. He's waited long enough for her, now he has her, in all of her covetous beauty.

There's no love, though, just lust. He's had her in his bed, just like all of his past fucks. He tires of her though, he knew it wouldn't last.

As for the "How could you not realize it was me? All of the turquoise jewelry you've received." Maybe he's a longtime secret admirer, which makes the song more intense, knowing all the trouble he has gone through to finally have her.

Miniature Tigers – Like Or Like-Like Lyrics 15 years ago
This song left me crying to sleep. Miniature Tigers leitmotif is unrequited love. That is the story of my own life.

It's more than an innocent crush, He's wracked with emotion over her. The doorbell ditch doesn't refer to a childish prank, I think he means that he waited at her door to speak to her but lost his nerve.

Now he's at the end of his rope, given up, and just plainly, awkwardly, desperately asks her how she feels about him.

of Montreal – Coquet Coquette Lyrics 15 years ago
I assume "Guy face under your eyelids" (Which I honestly feel to be a brilliant piece of lyricism) is referring to the fact that the woman is dreaming about another guy's face.

I think the song is a description of a female lover by a male lover. He speaks of the loyalty of their romance. And I think the final line just is saying that "you make me feel in ways indescribable."

I think it is "You are the depth, you are the pinnacle." Makes sense.

I've heard different recordings of this song and I noticed that beautiful/dutiful and pitiful/beautiful get switched up.

Miniature Tigers – Gold Skull Lyrics 15 years ago
I think it is...
"I'm as strung in the sky as a sun with sunglasses and I need to take a break"

"I watched my mind go down into smoke, and I can't look (Look away look away look away)"

I think the song is about getting high... "Gold skull" makes me thing of the Steely Dan song "Glamour Profession" with it's line, "Kids will pay a quarter just to shine the silver bowl."

Oh No Ono – Swim Lyrics 16 years ago
Where are the "happiness" verses?

Happiness is home When you're not alone
Happiness is pets, hugs and no regrets
Happiness is near only when you're here
Happiness is there when you really care
Happiness reprise music for the mind * Not confident about this lyric...
Happiness is kind it's a state of mind
Happiness is here only when you're near

The Decemberists – Days of Elaine Lyrics 16 years ago
The song gives me the feeling of a mother recalling stories of her youth to her son. Before she grew old, she was as alive and rambunctious as her son. She feels old now, asking, "Now, doesn't it go so slow?"

Perhaps Elaine was a friend of the mother's.

That's the vibe it gives me, it's the setting I've laid for the song.

The Decemberists – The Day I Knew You'd Not Come Back Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm pretty certain that "colony" is supposed to be "colonnade." A colonnade is a series of pillars- Which goes along with the whole "castle" lyric in the first verse.
